In this vital role you will be responsible for executing healthcare contracting and payment activities for moderately complex engagements in support of Amgen's Research & Development organization.
This role applies established processes, systems, and guidance to ensure accurate, timely, and compliant delivery of HCC engagements. The Senior Associate exercises judgment within defined guidelines, resolves moderately complex issues, and escalates non-standard or high-risk matters as appropriate. The role partners with cross-functional stakeholders to support efficient execution of contracting and payment workflows.
Responsibilities- Execute contracting activities across the lifecycle for moderately complex HCC engagements
- Draft, review, and process contracts using established templates, playbooks, and guidance
- Coordinate contract execution, documentation, and system updates
- Execute payment processing activities for assigned engagements
- Review invoices and expenses for accuracy and alignment with contractual terms
- Resolve discrepancies and ensure timely payment completion
- Triage incoming requests and route work in alignment with established processes
- Manage assigned workload to meet service levels and timelines
- Provide informal guidance to less experienced team members as needed
- Execute activities in accordance with healthcare compliance policies, SOPs, and systems (e.g., C3)
- Perform required compliance checks and ensure documentation completeness
- Identify and escalate risks, exceptions, or non-standard scenarios
- Partner with Legal, Sourcing, Finance, Accounts Payable, and Compliance to support execution
- Communicate requirements and respond to stakeholder inquiries
- Resolve moderately complex issues within established frameworks and guidance
- Escalate high-risk or ambiguous issues with appropriate context
- Support resolution of recurring operational issues
- Identify opportunities to improve workflows and efficiency
- Support implementation of process enhancements and audit activities

Basic Qualifications:Master's degree
OR
Bachelor's degree and 2 years of related resource management, paralegal, contracting and/or financial accounting experience.
OR
Associate's degree and 6 years of related resource management, paralegal, contracting and/or financial accounting experience.
High school diploma / GED and 8 years of related resource management, paralegal, contracting and/or financial accounting experience.
Preferred Qualifications:• Familiarity with legal, research and/or clinical development in biopharmaceutical industry as well as medical and scientific terminology.
• Finance, resource, and/or budget management experience.
• Experience with analytics software (Microsoft Access, Spotfire, Tableau, Smartsheet), document management applications, portfolio planning tools, supply chain and financial systems (Planisware, Veeva, SAP, Ariba).
• Intermediate Microsoft Office user (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook).
• Experience working with virtual teams and using collaborative tools and platforms.
• Exceptional interpersonal, organizational, critical thinking and verbal/written communication skills
• Ability to work in a highly cross matrixed environment.
• Planning and project management skills with the demonstrated ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment with multiple high priority projects and minimal supervision.

The expected annual salary range for this role in the U.S. (excluding Puerto Rico) is posted. Actual salary will vary based on several factors including but not limited to, relevant skills, experience, and qualifications.
