Our Human Capital practice is adding an Actuarial Senior Manager to our Insights, Innovation & Operate Offering.

Work you'll do As an Actuarial Senior Manager, you will apply actuarial, strategic, and analytical experience to help clients evaluate business issues, improve decision-making, and support transformation in a rapidly evolving market. This role offers the opportunity to engage with executives across the health care landscape, ranging from health plays to large health systems, and lead teams that drive network coverage decisions, value-based care models and performance, product and pricing, and financial performance.

You will be responsible for delivering strategic and technical consulting services to help clients address complex challenges, such as:
  • Engage with payers and provider clients to support a transition from current models to ones focused on outcomes for patients and members
  • Examine the root cause issues for drivers of cost and reimbursement and formulate strategic paths for remediation
  • Advise clients on alternative plan designs, reimbursement models, and value-based care strategies, including analysis of return on investment for medical management initiatives
  • Lead actuarial modeling and analysis to assess the impact of trend changes in the health care landscape, review plan design changes and pricing decisions, and enterprise cost strategies for health plan and insurance clients
  • Review and apply trend forecasting, predictive modeling, underwriting, and risk analysis methodologies to support client decision-making
  • Advise clients on alternative plan designs, reimbursement models, and value-based care strategies, including analysis of return on investment for medical management initiatives
  • Develop and present reports and recommendations for senior client stakeholders and Deloitte leadership while leading teams across engagements

Qualifications

Required:
  • Bachelor's degree
  • 10+ years of health actuarial experience
  • Associate of the Society of Actuaries (ASA) with progression to Fellow of the Society of Actuaries (FSA), FSA, or career ASA designation
  • Ability to travel 50%, on average, based on the work you do and the clients and industries/sectors you serve.
  • Limited immigration sponsorship may be available.
Preferred:
  • 8+ years of consulting, health plan, or insurance company experience
  • 6+ years of experience leading teams
  • 6+ years of experience with product design or product strategy
  • 6+ years of experience with reimbursement models, including value-based care or accountable care organization (ACO) modeling
  • 6+ years of experience with risk adjustment mechanisms, group insurance products, mergers and acquisitions, or health care reform involving individual medical, small group, or state Medicaid markets
The wage range for this role takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs. The disclosed range estimate has not been adjusted for the applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled. At Deloitte, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range is $180,200 to $355,100.

You may also be eligible to participate in a discretionary annual incentive program, subject to the rules governing the program, whereby an award, if any, depends on various factors, including, without limitation, individual and organizational performance.
