The Head of Global Talent Rewards is globally responsible for the strategy and execution of benefits, wellness, broad-based and executive compensation. Reporting to Tricia Yankovich, Fastly's Chief People Officer, the Head of Global Total Rewards is a close strategic partner to the leadership team to develop innovative and equitable programs aimed at attracting and retaining world-class talent. In this role, you'll leverage a proactive and innovative approach to ensure our rewards are aligned with our culture, are valued by our employees, and drive business results. This leader will ensure all compensation (executive and broad-based) and benefits and wellness programs align with the strategic goals of Fastly. This leader will not only direct the planning, design, implementation, maintenance and administration of the global Total Rewards programs but also be a thought leader to connect Total Rewards with driving company performance in support of Fastly's rapid growth.

This person will be a change leader and manager who thrives on continuous improvement within an entrepreneurial environment-laser-focused on exceptional customer service and creating a consistent global employee experience while driving innovation to create an atmosphere that supports new ideas and initiative. This leader will possess strong executive presence as they will interact extensively with the compensation committee/board of directors.

Given Fastly's growth, this leader will have a proven track record of creating innovative, industry leading rewards strategies and programs on a global scale and will need to be comfortable operating in a dynamic, fast-paced, and evolving environment. The ideal candidate will be a strategic thinker, have depth of expertise in executive compensation program design and governance, but also be a hands-on manager and "do-er".

What you'll do:
  • Architect and execute a competitive, end-to-end Total Rewards strategy that aligns with Fastly's overall talent agenda
  • Collaborate effectively with a wide variety of internal stakeholders, including the Board of Directors, senior management, internal clients, the People leadership team, and develop/mentor the compensation/benefit team members
  • Serve as an integral member of the HR Leadership team advising on programs impacting the organization as a whole and collaborating with HR Business Partners to understand and address the unique needs of their various client groups.
  • Leverage knowledge of market conditions and competitive talent landscape to design tailored strategies for compensation concerning key talent segments
  • Stay on top of total rewards trends and offerings to ensure Fastly's offerings are fresh, modern, and competitive, culturally relevant around the globe, while aligned with our business strategies
  • Manage and oversee the design, implementation, administration, maintenance, and reporting of executive and equity compensation programs and initiatives
  • Prepare materials for Fastly's Compensation Committee and Board of Directors as needed
  • Direct studies and analysis and engage resources such as external consultants, as needed, to inform the resolution of Total Rewards related questions and issues
  • Evaluate employee recognition approaches based on best practices and employee engagement objectives; recommend enhancements and partner with other People leaders in support of an integrated talent agenda, particularly with respect to recruiting, learning and development, performance management, compensation, and recognition
  • Collaborate with benefits providers on renewals or service bids, utilization experience, cost management, and plan design options; review vendors' performance and recommend changes to management
  • Provide strategic direction, planning, and execution of Fastly's compensation and benefits programs including health and welfare, 401K/retirement, time-off and flexibility, disability plans, and other various perks
  • Review the mix of benefits/wellness offerings to employees and assess their effectiveness; make recommendations to vary offerings based on current best practices, cost, and utility of benefits to employees and create a similar global employee experience.
  • Manage the effective communication of compensation, benefits, and wellness programs to achieve employee awareness, understanding, and appreciation of program offerings
  • Ensure all programs are administered in compliance with regulations nationally including the management of all compliance filings, reports, and audits related to the administration of employee compensation programs either directly or through vendor and partners
  • Confer with legal team or outside counsel on legal aspects of plan design, administration, or contested cases.

Core Primary Responsibilities:
  • Global compensation and benefits
    • C&B "operations" e.g. benchmarking, annual review, retirement programs (incl. 401k fiduciary oversight, global retirement plans), ERISA severance escalations, rewards education
    • Equity strategy, program design and implementation
    • Wellness (emotional, physical, financial wellness) program assessment and design
  • Global mobility
    • Expatriate policies
    • Immigration policies
    • Relocation policies
  • Executive compensation
    • Executive compensation program strategy, design and implementation
    • Manage all comp committee related matters, prepare relevant materials and manage the and cadence/activities including oversight of outside Compensation Consultant to the compensation committee (partner with legal as appropriate)
    • Work with functional peers and Compensation Committee consultant to prepare compensation information for proxy.

About you:
  • You're a natural at building relationships, partnering and influencing others

  • You're as comfortable driving strategy as you are rolling up your sleeves
  • You have a solid track record in rolling out new programs and strategies, dealing with a wide range of internal stakeholders and external partners
  • Customer service and consultative philosophy; centering HR around a customer service mission, effectively soliciting feedback from key stakeholders on all aspects of total rewards, adapting changes when needed to drive satisfaction
  • Expert knowledge of health and wellness programs, 401(K) administration, and employment contracts
  • Strong communication, organizational, problem-solving, and project management skills. Strong attention to detail with a creativity
  • High degree of motivation and flexibility; ability to creatively multitask while managing deadlines and perform under pressure
  • Ability to work independently and succeed in a team-oriented, collaborative, but complex and decentralized environment
  • Experience with Workday and helping to implement an HR Shared Service Model a plus

Requirements:
  • BA/BS Degree is preferred
  • 12+ years of relevant work experience in Compensation, Benefits and/or Total Rewards or HR Operations
  • Deep experience designing executive compensation plans (incentive plans and equity strategy/equity plan design) for a pre-IPO company and for a public company, including managing executive compensation at a public company
  • Sales compensation experience is highly preferred
  • History of successful change management through influence and collaboration with all levels of stakeholders, internally and externally, including senior executives, finance and legal partners, and HR colleagues

Work Hours:
  • This position will require you to be available during core business hours.

The preferred locations for this position are:

Fastly currently embraces a largely hybrid model for most roles which allows employees flexibility to split their time between the office and home.

There is a strong preference for Hybrid near a local office. However, we may be willing to consider remote candidates within the US.

This position may require travel as required by your role or requested by your manager.

Salary:

The estimated salary range for this position is $244,440 to $345,084.

Starting salary may vary based on permissible, non-discriminatory factors such as experience, skills, qualifications, and location.

This role may be eligible to participate in Fastly's equity and discretionary bonus programs.
