Role Summary

The Head of Market Access Marketing & Operations is responsible for leading the market access marketing and operational strategy across therapeutic areas, ensuring that payer, reimbursement, and access strategies are clearly translated into effective customer-facing value narratives and enablement. This role serves as the connective tissue between brand strategy, payer strategy, and the field, ensuring consistent, compliant, and scalable access execution.

This leader oversees market access marketers aligned by therapeutic area and market access analytics, driving excellence in pull-through strategy, value messaging, launch readiness, and operational effectiveness. The role partners closely with Payer Account Teams, Trade & Distribution, Pricing & Contracting, Brand Marketing, and Field leadership.

Key Responsibilities

Market Access Marketing Strategy & Leadership
  • Define and own the enterprise Market Access Marketing strategy aligned to brand and payer objectives
  • Translate payer, pricing, and access strategies into clear customer value propositions, tools, and field enablement
  • Lead access launch planning across new products, indications, and portfolio expansions
  • Ensure alignment between brand strategy, payer strategy, and access execution

Organization & People Leadership
  • Lead and develop a team of Market Access Marketers (one per therapeutic area) and Market Access Analytics
  • Provide clear direction, priorities, and performance expectations across the function
  • Build talent capability in access storytelling, payer dynamics, and operational execution
  • Partner with Market Access leadership on workforce planning, hiring, and succession
  • Support and develop team members through coaching, feedback, and career development

Access Enablement & Execution
  • Oversee development of payer value messaging, access tools, and pull-through materials
  • Ensure compliant and effective deployment of materials to field teams (payer, account management, and customer-facing roles)
  • Partner with training and field leadership to ensure readiness and adoption
  • Drive consistency in access narratives across therapeutic areas and channels

Market Access Operations
  • Establish operational rigor across planning, execution, and measurement of access marketing initiatives
  • Ensure strong cross-functional processes, timelines, and governance
  • Identify operational efficiencies and continuous improvement opportunities
  • Support portfolio prioritization and resource allocation decisions

Analytics & Performance Management
  • Oversee Market Access Analytics to assess performance, uptake, access barriers, and pull-through effectiveness
  • Define KPIs and success measures for access marketing initiatives
  • Use insights to refine strategy, tools, and execution
  • Ensure data integrity, consistent reporting, and decision-oriented insights

Cross-Functional Collaboration & Governance
  • Serve as a key partner to:
    • Payer Account Teams
    • Pricing & Contracting
    • Trade & Distribution
    • Brand Marketing
    • Field Leadership and Training
    • Legal, Compliance, and Regulatory
  • Ensure all access marketing and operational activities comply with regulatory and corporate standards
  • Act as a trusted advisor and subject matter expert on market access execution

Qualifications

Education
  • Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree (MBA or equivalent) preferred

Experience
  • 10+ years of experience in Market Access, Market Access Marketing, Payer Marketing, or related commercial roles within life sciences/pharma
  • 5+ years of people leadership experience
  • Demonstrated experience translating payer strategy into field-ready execution
  • Strong understanding of U.S. payer landscape, reimbursement pathways, and formulary dynamics
  • Experience supporting launches and multi-brand portfolios preferred
