Position Description

Harper Brothers Construction - Superintendent

  • Project Oversight & Coordination:
    • Oversee the day-to-day activities on the job site, ensuring that work is progressing according to the approved schedule and meeting quality standards.
    • Collaborate with the project management team to review project plans, schedules, and resources, and adjust as needed to ensure project success.
    • Coordinate all field activities, including managing subcontractors, suppliers, and labor to ensure projects are executed efficiently.
    • Ensure that all safety protocols and regulations are followed on-site, including conducting regular safety meetings, inspections, and audits.
  • Team Leadership & Supervision:
    • Supervise and manage a team of foremen, laborers, and subcontractors, providing guidance and support to ensure efficient work practices.
    • Monitor the performance of site personnel, providing feedback, training, and corrective actions when necessary.
    • Foster a positive and collaborative team environment, promoting open communication and teamwork.
    • Ensure all workers are following safety procedures and using the correct personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Quality Control:
    • Ensure that all construction work meets or exceeds the quality standards set by the project specifications, HBFF, and regulatory agencies.
    • Review and inspect construction materials, equipment, and work output to ensure adherence to quality standards.
    • Address any issues related to construction quality and work with the project team to resolve them quickly and effectively.
  • Safety & Compliance:
    • Enforce all safety protocols and ensure a safe working environment by adhering to OSHA regulations and company safety standards.
    • Conduct regular safety inspections and audits to ensure compliance with all safety policies and regulations.
    • Investigate any safety incidents or accidents, ensuring prompt and thorough reporting and resolution.
  • Communication & Documentation:
    • Maintain clear and open communication with the project manager, engineers, and other team members regarding project progress, challenges, and changes.
    • Maintain accurate and up-to-date project documentation, including daily reports, safety logs, equipment maintenance records, and timecards.
    • Communicate with clients, project owners, and other stakeholders to provide updates on project status, schedule changes, and potential issues.
  • Budget and Resource Management:
    • Monitor the use of materials, equipment, and labor to ensure project stays on budget and within the project scope.
    • Identify potential cost savings opportunities and recommend solutions to enhance project efficiency.
    • Ensure that materials and equipment are ordered and delivered on time to avoid project delays.


Position Requirements

  • Experience:
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Superintendent or Foreman in the construction industry, preferably within foundation and drilling projects.
  • Experience in foundation work, heavy civil construction, and/or drilling operations is preferred.
  • Skills:
  • Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and manage multiple teams.
  • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities to address challenges as they arise.
  • In-depth knowledge of construction processes, methods, and safety standards.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to interact with clients, subcontractors, and project teams.
  • Proficiency with construction management software and MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).
  • Education:
  • High school diploma or equivalent (required).
  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field (preferred, but not required).
  • Certifications:
  • OSHA 30-hour certification (required).
  • First Aid/CPR certification (preferred).
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) or similar certification (preferred).
  • Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to work in both office and outdoor environments, including active construction sites.
  • Ability to walk, stand, bend, and lift for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
