Hardware Engineer II

Department: Engineering
Status: Full-Time, Exempt
Position Overview

Packet Digital is seeking a Hardware Engineer II to support the development of advanced electronics for unmanned systems, including drones, satellites, and terrestrial applications. This role offers opportunities to work throughout the product lifecycle, from concept and design to validation and production, while contributing to innovative aerospace and autonomous technologies.
Responsibilities
  • Develop hardware requirements based on customer and project needs
  • Research, design, simulate, and validate electronic circuits and system architectures
  • Create schematics and PCB layouts
  • Support product development, testing, troubleshooting, and production activities
  • Document BOMs, ECOs, and engineering changes
  • Participate in design reviews and continuous process improvements
  • Maintain engineering databases, components, and lab organization
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams and support customer needs
  • Travel approximately 10-20%, including occasional overnight trips
  • Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or equivalent experience
  • 2-4 years of experience with:
    • Microcontroller-based designs
    • CAN, USB, and serial communications
    • Schematic capture and PCB design
    • Thermal analysis and mitigation strategies
    • Precision analog measurements
    • Electronic test equipment including oscilloscopes, signal generators, and power supplies
  • Strong troubleshooting, organizational, and communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
  • Lithium battery and battery management experience
  • Solar power applications
  • DC/DC converter design
  • High-current PCB design (>50A)
  • Space or aerospace hardware experience
  • Low-power design expertise
  • SPICE simulation experience
