Full Job Description
Responsible for direct sales activity and achieving designated revenue and room night goals. This individual will be responsible for developing assigned group markets and maintaining account base while financially growing each account to its maximum revenue potential. The role requires prospecting for new business for the hotel as well as participating in networking organizations and select trade shows/sales missions.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Manage designated group accounts in vertical and geographic markets to meet and exceed personal room night and revenue goals.
  • Maintain business relationships with accounts including client recognition, prospecting and development of contacts.
  • Develop assigned market while assisting in implementing strategies and projects to maximize account revenue.
  • Qualify group leads to determine best business opportunities.
  • Negotiate room rates, meeting room rental, and food and beverage pricing within set guidelines.
  • Negotiate with clients while meeting the needs of both parties and achieving maximum revenue
    potential.
  • Assist in establishing and completing assigned quarterly and yearly action plans.
  • Sell all areas and services of the hotel.
  • Prospect new business for hotel and generate revenue from these efforts.
  • Target existing accounts and new business clients during need periods to meet revenue challenges.
  • Promptly follow up on all leads and maximize revenue potential.
  • Handle all aspects of account development to include sales presentations, site inspections, entertainment and sales trips.
  • Participate in pertinent trade shows, conventions and related industry events.
  • Travel and plan out-of-town sale.
  • Identify key changes in the market and devise solutions to sell more effectively.
  • Seek to improve the level of awareness in the marketplace through active participation in professional, civic and hospitality industry organizations.
  • Have a thorough knowledge of hotel competitive set and how to effectively sell against them.
  • Refer leads to other Peninsula hotels globally.


General Requirements:

  • 3-5 years of hotel group sales experience within the New York City market.
  • Strong meeting planner relationships for New York City group rooms and events.
  • A bachelor's degree or equivalent education.
  • A self-starter with a knowledge of the group sales process.
  • Excellent English verbal communication and online writing skills.
  • High level of creativity and innovative mindset. Comfortable presenting and pitching to meeting planners.
  • Ability to make independent decisions relating to solicitation methods and the management of sensitive and complex issues.
  • Ability to handle fast-paced, high energy, stressful environment; ability to be flexible with work schedule including some late nights and weekends.
  • An excellent knowledge of the current computer applications being used (Word, Power Point, Excel).
  • A good knowledge of the hotel business and the inter-workings of the hotel.
