Full Job Description
Job Overview

This role will lead the Customer Intelligence team, which sits in Strategy & Business Operations Org and acts as the strategic signal layer for QuickBooks. We marry disparate insights and data sources - primary research, voice of customer, behavioral and profiling data, industry intelligence - into customer-driven stories that shape where QuickBooks invests. As Group Manager, you'll lead the team to be insights thought partners to VP leaders across our highest-priority bets in the Global Business Solutions Group (GBSG), especially our Small Business Group (SBG). You'll guide the end-to-end learning and measurement plans that fuel our strategy and synthesize the collective insights signal into what performance is telling us and where the biggest opportunities sit. You'll partner closely with Business Operations to embed that signal into initiative operating rhythms so that prioritization and course-correction are grounded in holistic customer truth.

In this role, you'll personally lead high-visibility strategy projects and oversee many others - framing problems, pressure-testing analysis, and shaping the narrative with leaders across Product, Marketing, Sales, Finance, and Customer Success. We're looking for a strategist with strong insights craft who can coach a team to be hypothesis-driven, structured, opinionated, and relentlessly focused on the decision at hand. If you've ever been frustrated that great customer insight didn't change anything, this is the role where changing something is the job. We're expecting you to not only understand and unpack the insights, but also be a critical partner to the business and have a real recommendation on how we action.

Responsibilities
What you'll do here:

  • Champion the team's charter and reputation - set the vision and prioritize the team's roadmap against the highest-impact business outcomes; ensure the team has air time in the right forums
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to VP/Director+ leaders - define the questions their strategy must answer to be developed and executed, build learning and measurement plans, and advise directly on high-stakes decisions; maintain a pulse on the current state of the strategy and proactively flag where additional learning or refinement is needed
  • Partner with Business Operations to connect insight to execution - embed customer signal into operating rhythms and planning cycles, turning strategy into delivery
  • Lead complex, ambiguous strategy projects - frame the problem, develop the hypotheses, design a multi-method approach, run the analysis, and deliver a recommendation with a clear point of view
  • Mobilize insights - go beyond 'here's what we learned' to frame option sets, articulate tradeoffs, recommend an execution path, and define how we'll measure whether it worked
  • Synthesize across the portfolio - connect signals across initiatives to surface risk, strategic health, and opportunity that no single initiative owner can see on their own
  • Build AI-native ways of working - make our insights system AI-first across how we capture, analyze, and deliver insights, and champion tooling that democratizes access to customer truth across the business
  • Govern our customer listening strategy - ensure we capture targeted, insightful feedback at the moments that matter most, with guardrails that keep customer burden light and results statistically sound
  • Coach and grow the team - develop insights professionals into strategic advisors; raise the bar on structured problem solving, executive communication, and business judgment; attract and retain exceptional, diverse talent

Qualifications
Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of experience in customer insights, strategy, analytics, management consulting, or a related field, including 3+ years leading and developing teams
  • Experience advising senior executives on complex, high-stakes decisions; you can lead with the answer, structure a clear and concise narrative, and get a VP to a decision in one conversation
  • Structured problem solver who can break down ambiguous, complex problems into addressable components, develop hypotheses that guide the work rather than waiting for data to speak, and know when to kill your own hypothesis; you can turn a broad need into a scoped plan with a clear approach, timeline, and owners
  • Hands-on insights craft: you've personally designed and led research, VOC, or analytics projects end to end, and you can still do the work yourself; you're credible with practitioners because you are one
  • Multi-method by instinct - you choose the approach that fits the decision (survey, qualitative, behavioral analysis, industry intelligence, or some combination) rather than defaulting to the method you know best, and you can fuse structured and unstructured sources into a single coherent story
  • Strong business judgment - you connect customer signal to strategy, financial performance, and execution, and you can tell which findings actually change a decision
  • Comfortable with data - you can interrogate a dataset, spot when a signal is biased, incomplete, or misleading, and explain what that means for the conclusion
  • Influence without authority - you build trusted relationships with senior stakeholders across Product, Design, Marketing, Analytics, Data Science, Business Operations, and Customer Success, and you can drive alignment across divergent opinions
  • Talent steward - you coach and develop others, deliver direct and timely feedback, and build a team culture people want to be part of
  • AI-forward - you actively use AI to accelerate and expand what's possible in insights work, and you push your team to do the same
  • Bonus:
    • Experience at a top-tier management consulting firm, or in a corporate strategy or business operations function
    • FinTech, SaaS, or small business software background, or first-hand experience working with small businesses or accountants
