About This Role: The Maintenance and Operations Supervisor is responsible for the planning, scheduling, coordinating, and completion of all grounds maintenance services for the parks and properties within their assigned area. Responsibilities include the supervision of a crew of 8-13 staff for a 7 day per week operation in a manner that promotes a positive work environment and fosters high morale. The M&O Supervisor is responsible for quality control and performance management, and for ensuring that their staff and grounds operations are compliant with agency, local, state, and federal policies/rules/regulations. The M&O Supervisor will operate independently under general guidelines, will lead by example, and will perform both field work and office work. The M&O Supervisor is responsible for training, coaching, and mentoring of staff for tasks and techniques employed in the maintenance and care of athletic fields, turf, landscaping, irrigation, park grounds and amenities, and applicable equipment. The M&O Supervisor will be responsible for measuring and calculating areas, volumes, and rates as necessary for estimating materials/supplies, calibrating equipment, and for making product applications.
Minimum Requirements:- High school diploma or G.E.D. and 3 years of experience planning, scheduling, organizing and prioritizing work activities related to the maintenance and care of athletic fields, park grounds and amenities, turf and landscape; supervision and management of staff; use and care of industry applicable equipment and vehicles; providing customer service to stakeholders.
Preferences:- 4+ years of experience supervising or leading grounds maintenance operations
- VA Commercial Pesticide Applicator License category 6
- Experience directing or leading crews in turf maintenance operations and practices
- Experience directing or leading crews in the maintenance, preparation, and setup of athletic fields
- Experience directing or leading crews in landscape maintenance operations and practices
- Experience motivating, training, and leading grounds maintenance staff
- Strong organizational skills, including the ability to manage multiple assignments, resources, and deadlines
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Experience using Work Order software
- Experience using MS Office software (Outlook, Excel, Word, etc.)
- Experience using Payroll Time entry software
- Experience using Virtual Meeting software (Teams, Webex, Zoom, etc.)
Special Requirements: - Valid Driver's License and must meet PWC driving eligibility requirements
- VA Class A CDL
- VA Commercial Pesticide Applicator License categories 3A & 3B, 6
- VA Certified Fertilizer Applicator
- Must pass a Pre-employment physical examination, driving record check, and background check
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- May be required to respond to emergencies after normal working hours, as needed
- Exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
Work Schedule: This is a 7-day per week operation. The typical workday is 7.5 hours; generally Monday-Friday with some rotating weekend requirements. Schedule is generally 7am-3pm with slight variations for start and stop times. May include evenings, holidays, and weekends.
Starting Salary Range: $35.80-$41.88 Hourly
