Full Job Description
Position Summary

The Project Manager II oversees projects and programs with medium to large scopes and/or complexity. They lead internal teams, coordinate with sub-consultants, and manage communication with project stakeholders. They take greater ownership of performance outcomes, provide mentorship to junior team members, and help align project delivery with client goals and quality standards.

Essential Job Functions & Accountabilities

Project Management
  • Oversees and coordinates all aspects of project execution and client experience.
  • Develops project proposals, contracts and project budgets; may support proposal development on larger/more complex projects.
  • Plans and coordinates project deliverables.
  • Manages client service and project communication.
  • Monitors and ensure adherence to budgets and financial expectations.
  • Responsible for overall project performance.
  • Contributes to efforts to improve performance and ensure consistent adherence to applicable quality standards.
  • Manages and maintains relationships with project sub-consultants.

Program Management

(where applicable)
  • Develops program contracts, project fee matrices and creates specific program project fees; may support these activities on other projects as needed.
  • Manages client service and communication for specific program projects and may support program level communication.
  • Oversees and coordinates all aspects of specific program scheduling and program project execution.

Quality
  • Manages project quality expectations across disciplines, proactively addressing issues to maintain standards.
  • Ensures deliverables meet project objectives and quality expectations.
  • Understands the scope of work and fees to mitigate risk throughout the project life cycle.
  • Provides technical insight on project production when applicable.
  • Recognizes and resolves project conflicts, balancing the interests of internal and external stakeholders

Client Experience
  • Serves as the primary project/program contact and brand ambassador.
  • Maintains regular communication with clients and sub-consultants to ensure satisfaction with the project process and engineering work product, and that client views are managed toward the best solution.
  • Recognizes and resolves project-related conflict and responds to client requests and questions, balancing the interests of internal and external stakeholders.
  • Partners with sector and practice leadership to support business development strategies within their sector or practice.

Leadership/Employee Engagement
  • Directs the activities of project/program team members and oversees Project Coordinators as needed.
  • Proactively advises, coaches and mentors less experienced Designers, Engineers, or Project Managers, providing oversight or guidance on project execution and communication.
  • Makes recommendations to practice, operations and/or technical leadership to align training, development and mentoring of project staff.

Required Education, Experience, Licenses & Technical Competencies
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, construction management, science, technology, or business required. Relevant experience within the AEC or Professional Services industry may be considered in lieu of requisite education.
  • 6 years of relevant experience required, including a minimum of 5 years of project management experience. Minimum 10 years of experience required without degree.
  • Proficiency in project management standards and execution required.
  • Intermediate knowledge and understanding of building design and construction principles required.
  • Project management certification preferred.
  • Self-starter with the ability to influence and motivate others to achieve goals.
  • Excellent track record of effective collaboration, communication and organization skills.
  • Must demonstrate proficiency in all core competencies as described in this job description.

Physical & Other Requirements
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Prolonged periods of sitting or standing at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Ability to read, write and communicate in English.
  • Occasional travel may be required (10-15%).
