Position OverviewAs a Graduate Intern, Economics with PNC's Chief Investment Office organization, you will be based in New York City, NY.
Job DescriptionThe PNC Chief Investment Office (CIO) Economics team provides economic forecasting, scenario design, modeling, and thought leadership across the organization. The team develops macroeconomic scenarios for CECL, CCAR, and other risk management applications, produces forecasts for internal and external stakeholders, supports strategic decision-making through economic analysis, and engages with clients through presentations and market insights. Team members work at the intersection of economics, risk management, and financial services, leveraging quantitative models and expert judgment to assess economic trends and their implications for PNC and its clients.
We are seeking PhD or master's students in Economics, Finance, Econometrics, or related quantitative disciplines who are nearing graduation. This internship offers an opportunity to apply advanced economic and quantitative research techniques to real-world challenges in macroeconomic forecasting, scenario design, risk management, and financial markets. Successful candidates will have a strong analytical background and experience conducting empirical research using economic and financial data.
This position is based in New York City and requires full-time, in-office participation.
Job ResponsibilitiesAs an intern, the candidate will participate in the many activities of the economics team. These include:
- Conducting economic and financial research to support macroeconomic forecasting, scenario design, and market analysis.
- Analyzing economic data, financial markets, and emerging trends to identify risks, opportunities, and key drivers of the outlook.
- Assisting in the development and evaluation of quantitative models used for forecasting, stress testing, and risk management.
- Preparing presentations, data visualizations, and written insights that communicate economic and market developments to internal stakeholders and clients.
We are looking for a candidate with the following:
- Currently pursuing a master's or PhD degree in Economics, Finance, Econometrics, or a related quantitative field, with an anticipated graduation date within the next 12 months.
- Strong foundation in economic theory, econometrics, statistics, and empirical research methods, demonstrated through coursework, research, or professional experience.
- Experience working with economic, financial, or large-scale datasets and applying quantitative methods to analyze complex problems.
- Proficiency in analytical and programming tools such as Python, R, MATLAB, Stata, SAS, or similar platforms used for data analysis and modeling.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate quantitative findings into clear, actionable insights for both technical and non-technical audiences.

Pay TransparencyBase Salary: $63,000.00 - $105,000.00
Salaries may vary based on geographic location, market data and on individual skills, experience, and education.
