Senior Sales Manager (GCB4) - Institutional Sales, Global Payments Solutions (GPS)

The Opportunity

Global Payments Solutions (GPS) is one of HSBC's global product lines generating over 10% of Group revenues, supporting Corporate and Institutional Banking across more than 55 countries. This role sits within GPS Institutional Sales, focused on banks with US headquarters and international footprints as well as foreign headquartered banks operating in the US. You'll partner closely with Coverage Bankers/RMs, regional and global Sales counterparts and Product teams to deepen HSBC's global cash management wallet share and grow revenues. Success means building a strong pipeline, converting mandates into realised revenue and strengthening client outcomes across payments and liquidity. You'll bring sector-informed advisory conversations to clients with complex treasury needs across payments, foreign exchange, liquidity and working capital. Ideally, this role will be based in New York and reports to the Head of NBFI Sales within Global Payments Solutions - Institutional Sales.

What you'll be doing
  • Partner with Coverage Bankers/RMs, global and regional Sales counterparts and Product partners to identify opportunities and grow global cash management wallet share
  • Adopt a needs-based advisory approach to understand client and sector requirements and align cash management solutions to those needs
  • Coordinate across markets and functions to develop solutions, construct proposals and deliver sales pitches
  • Manage the transition of client mandates into realised revenues by working closely with Client Connectivity and Service teams
  • Provide ongoing coverage in response to clients' evolving requirements across payments and liquidity
  • Provide Product teams with competitive market insights and client requirements to inform enhancements and developments
  • Shape sector strategies through participation in events, case studies, client testimonials, client planning and wallet sizing activities
  • Coach team members across the group on sales strategy formulation, pipeline management and sales conversion techniques
  • Build a coordinated pipeline with global and regional Sales leads aligned to Coverage priorities and value to HSBC


What we're looking for

  • Bring a proven track record in Sales or Relationship Management with complex, global banks and relevant Cash and Liquidity Management experience
  • Demonstrate experience managing a client portfolio and accountability for cross-sell and client satisfaction outcomes
  • Apply strong data analytical skills alongside a proven sales record
  • Show understanding of global cash and liquidity management techniques plus market and competitive trends and sector-based regulatory environments
  • Bring detailed knowledge of the day-to-day Corporate Treasury environment including payments, foreign exchange, liquidity and working capital
  • Demonstrate strong knowledge of local, regional and global cash management services, products, techniques and strategies
  • Offer experience working in a Global Banking environment or with HSBC Group products and services
  • Evidence the ability to identify and meet customer needs by matching a broad range of products and services and delivering creative and flexible solutions within deadlines
  • Operate effectively under pressure in a fast-growing and fast-moving sales environment
