As the Global Medical Affairs Leader for external engagement in GU/GYN, you will connect our science to the world's most influential voices, shaping conversations at major congresses and across indications so patients benefit sooner.

Working hand-in-hand with indication leads, GMALs, and cross-functional partners, you will design and deliver a unified engagement strategy across assets and indications, ensuring coherent scientific exchange and high-quality execution. Reporting to the Global Medical GU/GYN Franchise Head, you will be pivotal in how our pipeline is perceived, discussed and adopted globally. Accountabilities:

• External Engagement Strategy: Develop a cohesive Global GU/GYN Engagement Strategy that reflects the strategic priorities across the franchise, ensuring a consistent and compelling scientific narrative across assets and indications.
• Congress Orchestration: Coordinate congress engagement planning to maximise the impact of Global Medical at major conferences, elevating visibility and clarity of our science.
• Cross-Functional Alignment: Oversee the GU/GYN GMA external engagement planning and outreach process for major congresses to ensure a smooth, cross-functionally aligned approach from planning through debrief.
• Scientific Exchange Leadership: Successfully deliver key global scientific exchange activities, including large in-person events, that reflect the therapy area strategy and drive practical adoption of evidence.
• Compliance Stewardship: Ensure all Medical and business activities are carried out in compliance with AZ standards, standard operating procedures and external regulations; awareness of different market compliance regulations is a plus.
• Stakeholder Partnership and Influence: Partner closely with indication leads, Medical peers and GMALs to align priorities, influence without authority and drive consistent, high-quality execution.
• Insight Generation and Continuous Improvement: Capture insights from experts and congresses, synthesize learnings and feed them back into strategies and medical plans to continually raise the bar.
• Measurement and Reporting: Define clear objectives and success metrics for engagement, track outcomes and communicate impact to senior leaders to inform future investment and strategy.

Essential Skills/Experience:

• Minimum of Master's degree in a scientific discipline or equivalent medical/scientific qualifications and/or significant industry and/or therapeutic experience.
• At least 4 years of experience within pharma/life sciences and/or medical experience (e.g. significant clinical/academic/medical affairs agency roles/organizations)
• Excellent communication and presentation skills
• Experience of multi stakeholder management
• Experience of delivery of medical plans and strategic medical initiatives
• Ability to influence others without authority
• Strong project management skills and the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams
• Good understanding of drug development and commercialization processes including understanding of outcomes research /payer access issues
• Proven ability to generate, analyze and interpret clinical trial and published data
• Willingness to travel, 10-20%

Desirable Skills/Experience:

• Advanced Scientific degree preferred (PhD, PharmD)
• 3+ years in a Head Quarters Medical Affairs role or Global Clinical R&D
• Oncology experience, lung cancer experience is preferred
• Documented track record of successfully executing on Medical Plans both in terms of evidence generation, scientific communications, and external expert engagements

The annual base pay for this position ranges from $ 206,827.20 - 310,240.80 USD. Base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. In addition, our positions offer a short-term incentive bonus opportunity; eligibility to participate in our equity-based long-term incentive program. Benefits offered include a qualified retirement program [401(k) plan]; paid vacation and holidays; paid leaves; and, health benefits including medical, prescription drug, dental, and vision coverage in accordance with the terms and conditions of the applicable plans.
