What you'll be doing

As a member of the Global Markets team, you'll be delivering innovative banking and investment solutions to CIBC's retail, wealth and business clients including corporates, governments and institutional clients around the world. Our Global Markets business comprises our sales, trading, structuring and research teams spanning cash and derivative products in foreign exchange, commodities, rates and equities in addition to securitization, money markets and more. We will also be leveraging our trading and technology to deliver innovative, market-leading payment and fintech solutions through our Alternate Solutions Group. You'll be joining our Equity Research team and will be provided the opportunity to gain experience in the Energy sector coverage team.

The expected annualized base salary for this role is $100,000.

The base salary is determined by a variety of factors, including the candidate's skills, experience, and job-related knowledge, as well as geographic location and specific business needs. Our compensation philosophy supports ongoing growth and development, enabling progression within the salary range as team members advance in their roles.

Important information

• You are enrolled in an undergraduate degree in Commerce, Mathematics, Engineering, Economics or related at the time of the internship, with a graduation date no sooner than August 2027.

How you'll succeed

• Passion for financial markets - Demonstrate strong technical, quantitative, and analytical skills, with keen interest in the financial markets and proven record of academic success, teamwork and extracurricular involvement.
• Project management - Take the lead with projects and tasks that will provide the opportunity to learn about the Capital Markets industry and to develop the skills required for solid financial analysis.
• Reporting and analysis - Gain valuable knowledge of the process involved in writing research reports, forecasting, researching and analyzing companies, industries and market trends.
• Communication - Partner with your team to make an impact by applying a technical skillset to help generate insights and/or optimize processes. Showcase highly effective written, oral and presentation skills with an ability to explain complex concepts.

• You're digitally savvy. You are proficient in MS-office suite of tools (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, etc.) and are able to use them for financial modeling, presentations and technical project documentation. Proficiency with MS Power BI is an asset.
