Full Job Description
The Global Benefits Manager leads a lean team and partners closely with HR, vendors, and external advisors to design competitive benefit programs, manage regulatory compliance, oversee vendor performance, and continuously improve benefits operations. Acting as a trusted advisor, this role drives program excellence through strong governance, data-informed decision-making, and a focus on service quality and employee experience.

Your Impact:

  • Benefits Strategy & Plan Design


Lead the development, implementation, and continuous improvement health, welfare, and leave programs for the U.S. and Canada. Evaluate plan competitiveness using benchmarking and market intelligence. Support plan design decisions through analysis of cost, utilization, and market trends.

  • Team Leadership & Operations


Lead and develop a lean team of two direct reports with clear priorities and expectations. Guide daily benefits and leave operations to ensure accurate, timely, and compliant service delivery. Maintain visibility into daily operations and step in as needed to resolve issues and ensure continuity. Develop and maintain benefits policies, procedures, governance documentation, and operational controls. Set service standards, track performance metrics, and drive continuous improvement.

  • Compliance & Risk Management


Ensure full compliance with federal, state, provincial, and local regulations, including ERISA, ACA, COBRA, HIPAA, FMLA, ADA, and applicable Canadian regulations. Oversee audits, reporting, and regulatory filings. Review and interpret plan documents, policies, and legislative changes to ensure compliant administration.

  • Vendor Management


Partner with brokers, carriers, TPAs, and vendors to evaluate plan performance, renewals, utilization trends, and cost containment opportunities. Manage SLAs and ensure vendor accountability and service quality. Oversee outsourced service providers supporting back-office administration, ensuring service delivery meets. agreed SLAs, quality standards, and compliance requirements. Partner with vendors to optimize processes, improve efficiency, and resolve escalated operational issues.

  • Employee Experience & Communication


Champion a seamless and positive employee benefits experience. Oversee communications strategy, including open enrollment and ongoing education. Serve as an escalation point for complex or sensitive employee and business issues.

  • Systems & Process Excellence


Optimize use of HRIS (SAP), benefits administration, and leave management systems. Identify process gaps and implement scalable, efficient solutions. Leverage data, reporting, and analytics to inform decisions and enhance program effectiveness.

Your Experience and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience required with 7+ years of progressive experience in U.S. benefits and leave administration; Canada experience preferred.

  • Prior people's leadership experience, with success managing small teams or leading work in a lean environment. Ability to balance strategic priorities with oversight on operational delivery.

  • Deep expertise in health & welfare plans, leave of absence programs, and regulatory compliance (ERISA, ACA, COBRA, HIPAA, FMLA, ADA, etc.).

  • Strong knowledge of the benefits of plan design, funding strategies, and vendor management. Experience working in a global or matrixed organization preferred. Proficiency in SAP, benefits administration platforms, and Microsoft Office tools.

  • Strong communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills. High level of discretion and professionalism in handling sensitive information.
