Hiring salary range: $4,374.92 - $6,249.88 / Bi-weekly

Job Function:

Plan and coordinate the work of staff engaged in providing drafting, graphic illustration and computerized publishing services to the distribution function and other functions (both inside and outside the Company). Provide technical services related to the design development and acquisition of computerized drafting, information and other computer systems.

Job Description:
  1. Plan the work of staff associated with Computer Aided Engineering (CAE) systems support and associated projects. Organize, schedule, direct and monitor the progress and performance of staff. Prepare cost and technical evaluations and make recommendations in the hiring process.
  2. Implement the approved CAD environment strategy, through executing a resourcing plan, staff capability assessment and skills, development plan, upgrades, new technology acquisitions (software & hardware), configurations and production aids, to increase the business unit's competitive advantage.
  3. Coordinate the production environment functions in support of the business (system availability, system performance, file maintenance, system backup, etc.)
  4. Coordinate and provide technical services related to the design, development and acquisition of computerized drafting and publishing, information systems to distribution staff. Lead and direct staff towards corporate goals on drafting strategies that would be beneficial to the Company.
  5. Work with outside organizations requiring drafting and graphic services and resolve issues that may become controversial related to the operation and maintenance of services provided by the Company.
  6. Keep abreast of developments in the field of information systems, CAD systems, associated computer systems, etc. Provide ways and means to improve efficiency and economics of systems. Review technical publications and other literature. Communicate with counterparts in similar fields, to exchange views and discuss the merits of improved design and technology.
  7. Ensure CAD drafting capability is evaluated through various means (capability assessment, quality control, etc). Recommend changes to improve effectiveness.
  8. Assist in the development of new concepts, working culture (people acceptance), philosophy, operating and maintenance of standards and engineering policy in the dynamically changing field of computer aided engineering.
  9. Perform other duties as required.


Selection Criteria:

Education:
  • Requires a knowledge of engineering and computer principles, drafting design and information system analysis to provide evaluations and recommendations for modifications to existing and new computer application systems and the development of drafting design policies a good knowledge of English to effectively develop and present training programs, prepare concise correspondence, reports and design guides and to discuss standard drafting requirements with internal and external staff.This knowledge is considered to be normally acquired through the completion of 4 years of University training (Grade XII plus 5 years).


Experience:
  • Requires experience in electrical distribution systems construction, operation and maintenance to understand design practices, physical and performance characteristics of equipment and materials, work methods as they relate to program design functions.
  • Requires experience with divisional organization structures and procedures in order to understand the operation of the work groups and their required interaction.
  • Requires experience in a supervisory capacity.A period of over 8 years and up to and including 10 years is considered necessary to gain this experience.
