Full Job Description
STV is looking for a Geotechnical Engineering Specialist out of our Franklin, TN location. You will have the opportunity to learn from some of the best engineers in the business and work on all stages of the project development process, from early planning through final design.

The candidate will be responsible for:
  • Conduct geotechnical investigations, site assessments, and subsurface explorations to support infrastructure, transportation, and building projects.
  • Supervision of Drill Crew on routine projects
  • Analyze soil, rock, and groundwater conditions and prepare detailed geotechnical reports with design recommendations.
  • Perform geotechnical design calculations for foundations, retaining structures, slope stability, and ground improvement techniques.
  • Provide technical support during construction, including reviewing submittals, performing field observations, and resolving geotechnical challenges.
  • Assist in preparing geotechnical engineering reports, specifications, and contract documents to support design and construction.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, clients, and regulatory agencies to ensure project objectives and compliance standards are met.


Required Skills & Required Experience:
  • BS/MS degree in Civil or Geotechnical Engineering
  • 1+ years of experience including internships
  • EIT Certification preferred
  • Knowledge of geotechnical analysis software (gINT, LPILE, PLAXIS, OpenGround, etc.) a plus, but we'll teach you
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds while assisting with drilling operations
  • Field work will typically occur in all types of weather and around significant construction equipment with exposure to dirt, grease, oils, etc.
  • Field work requires walking over various types of terrain such as low-lying swampy areas to mountainous, rugged terrain. Significant time spent bending or kneeling during each day.
  • Drilling operations may require out of town stays
  • Team player with curiosity and desire to learn

Compensation Range:
$75,980.92 - $86,835.34
