Job Summary

We are seeking a GenAI Automation Lead to drive quality engineering transformation through automation-first strategies and the adoption of Generative AI technologies. In this leadership role, you will be responsible for defining test strategies, governing quality initiatives, and delivering scalable automation solutions across complex enterprise programs. You will leverage modern AI technologies, including Large Language Models (LLMs), prompt engineering, and AI-assisted development tools, to enhance testing efficiency, accelerate delivery, and improve overall software quality.

The ideal candidate will possess deep expertise in test automation, API and integration testing, CI/CD practices, and quality engineering, complemented by hands-on experience with GenAI platforms such as GPT and Claude. This role requires strong leadership, stakeholder management, and communication skills, with the ability to drive innovation and influence quality outcomes across both business and technology teams.

About the Role

As a GenAI Automation Lead, you will lead the evolution of quality engineering practices by combining advanced test automation capabilities with emerging Generative AI technologies. You will be responsible for establishing automation-first testing approaches, driving QA transformation initiatives, and ensuring quality is embedded throughout the software development lifecycle.

In this role you will work closely with cross-functional teams to integrate AI-driven testing techniques, including prompt engineering, LLM-based validation, and intelligent test optimization strategies.

You will also provide leadership in test planning, estimation, governance, and quality strategy execution while collaborating with senior business and technology stakeholders to align quality objectives with organizational goals. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of Generative AI concepts, including LLMs, Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), and Agentic AI, and be passionate about applying these technologies to modernize quality engineering practices.

In This Role, You Will
  • Test Strategy & QA Transformation Governance, Estimation & Planning
  • Drive automation-first quality strategy and lead automation solutions across programs.
  • Embed GenAI-driven testing using LLMs (GPT-4/4o, Claude etc) with Prompt Engineering.
  • Leverage GitHub Copilot and Claude to enable AI-assisted automation and enforce CI/CD quality gates.
  • Understanding of GenAI, LLMs, RAG and Agentic AI.
  • Quality Engineering experience covering functional, API, integration, and automation testing.
  • Hands-on experience with AI platforms and prompt engineering.
  • Strong communication, presentation, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to work independently, have the capability to lead a team and engage with senior business and technology stakeholders
  • Exposure tom Life Insurance, Retirement domain is preferred.

Work Model

Based on this role's business requirements, this is a hybrid position requiring 3 days a week in a client or Cognizant office in Boston, MA. Required Qualifications
• 8+ years of experience in Quality Engineering, Test Automation, or Software Testing roles.
• Strong hands-on experience with Playwright, Selenium, and API Test Automation frameworks.
• Experience designing, developing, and maintaining robust automated testing solutions across web, API, and integration layers.
• Knowledge of Generative AI (GenAI) concepts and their application within quality engineering and test automation practices.
• Hands-on experience with Prompt Engineering and leveraging Large Language Models (LLMs) to enhance testing efficiency and quality outcomes.
• Experience utilizing GitHub Copilot and other AI-assisted development tools to accelerate test automation development and improve productivity.
• Strong understanding of CI/CD pipelines and integrating automated quality checks within modern DevOps environments.
• Excellent verbal and written communication, presentation, and stakeholder management skills.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and communicate complex technical concepts to both technical and business audiences.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently, lead initiatives, and drive quality engineering best practices across programs.

Salary and Other Compensation:

Applications will be accepted until October 4 th , 2026.

The annual salary for this position is between $71,100 - $112,500 depending on the experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.

This position is also eligible for Cognizant's discretionary annual incentive program and stock awards, based on performance and subject to the terms of Cognizant's applicable plans.
