Functional Area Analyst III

Overview:

The selected candidate will provide analytic and operational support to high-priority DoW studies focused on force structure planning, operational readiness, capability development, and strategic assessments across air, ground, maritime, special operations, and space domains.

This position is primarily performed on-site within the National Capital Region (Washington, DC / Alexandria, VA) and requires a TOP SECRET clearance with SCI eligibility.

Roles/Responsibilities:
  • Providing strategic analysis and study support for senior-level DoW studies and analytic initiatives.
  • Supporting force structure planning, capability gap assessments, readiness analysis, and operational planning efforts.
  • Collecting, maintaining, refining, and analyzing complex DoD datasets related to force structure, logistics, deployment, readiness, and capability development.
  • Supporting more than 100 high-priority analytic studies through the delivery of relevant data, resources, historical analyses, and subject matter expertise.
  • Developing executive summaries, reports, briefings, and strategic recommendations for senior government leadership.
  • Managing and maintaining databases of current and historical DoW studies, including study objectives, methodologies, outcomes, and associated metadata.
  • Coordinating with analysts, developers, and knowledge management personnel to improve methodologies for study tracking and metadata capture.
  • Supporting ad hoc studies, assessments, and strategic analysis efforts aligned to Department priorities.
  • Collaborating with stakeholders across the strategic analysis community to improve information sharing and analytic efficiency.
  • Supporting customer engagement efforts by analyzing user feedback and improving support processes and service delivery
  • Providing subject matter expertise in military operations, operational research, force planning, and capability development efforts
  • Assisting with the development of data visualization tools, study support products, and analytic deliverables


Required Qualifications:
  • Active TOP SECRET security clearance with SCI eligibility
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution
  • Minimum of ten (10) years of experience in at least two (2) of the following areas:
  • Military operations or operations research
  • Force structure planning and readiness analysis
  • Planning, Programming, Budgeting, and Execution (PPBE) processes
  • Joint Capabilities Integration and Development System (JCIDS)
  • Strategic analysis and future force planning
  • Minimum of ten (10) years of experience collecting, managing, and refining complex DoD datasets
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience leading DoD analytic or operations research teams
  • Experience supporting senior-level strategic planning and data-driven policy decisions
  • Experience utilizing Structured Query Language (SQL) to manage and analyze large-scale datasets
  • Strong briefing, writing, and executive communication skills
  • Ability to work effectively within highly collaborative and fast-paced classified environments
