Job Description

As a key contributor to the BAE Systems Space & Mission Systems (SMS) Finance Operations department, this position plays a vital role in fostering knowledge growth within the function and enhancing financial acumen across the SMS organization. The Finance Learning & Knowledge Management Lead is responsible for designing, developing, publishing, and delivering finance-related educational content and training materials. This involves conducting learning needs assessments, crafting learning objectives, and applying instructional design practices and adult learning theory to create effective instructor-led and eLearning programs. Additionally, the position utilizes project management skills to ensure that projects are completed within scope and on schedule.

What You'll Do:
  • Assess, design, and develop learning materials, coordinate and review educational content, and incorporate current technology in developing specific eLearning content across the Finance Organization.
  • Produce high-quality training materials in various formats to support the Finance Organization's learning and development needs that align with the BAE brand and guidelines.
  • Design and deliver comprehensive training programs that cater to all levels of personnel, ensuring that learning objectives are met and that training is engaging and effective.
  • Develop tests and visual aids, conduct training classes, and establish criteria for evaluating the effectiveness of training activities.
  • Collaborate with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs), Finance Leaders, and T&OD team members to ensure that learning objectives, content, delivery methods, and standards are met.
  • Stay current with the latest research and trends in training and development, including learning theory, motivation theory, and instructional design methodologies, to ensure that training programs are informed by best practices.
  • Develop and implement post-training sustainment and measurement events/tools to continuously improve training offerings.
  • Utilize Learning Management System (LMS) reporting capabilities, including custom report development, to inform planning and management of the company's learning and development initiatives, track course registrations and completions, and analyze other key metrics.
  • Monitor and manage learning programs to ensure they remain current and effective and facilitate changes in response to user feedback.
  • Create engaging and interactive learning activities and course content in a variety of media formats, such as exercises, audio, video, simulations, role plays, and games, to drive learner engagement, improve retention, and enhance skill transfer.
  • Support other strategic training content development and facilitation requests as needed.
  • Apply Organizational Change Management (OCM) principles and collaborate with the Communications team to develop strategic communication plans that ensure the seamless adoption of new processes and technologies across the Finance Organization
  • Leverage current and emerging AI tools to innovate the learning development process, maintaining a commitment to continuous technological growth and full compliance with BAE Systems AI policies.
  • Maintain a regular and predictable work schedule.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships within the department, the Strategic Business Units, Strategic Capabilities Units and the Company. Interact appropriately with others in order to maintain a positive and productive work environment.
  • Perform other duties as necessary.

On-Site Work Environment: This position requires regular in-person engagement by working on-site three or more days each normally scheduled week in the primary work location. Travel and local commute between company campuses and other possible non-company locations may be required.

Required Skills and Education

  • BS/BA in related field plus 6 or more years related experience.
  • Each higher-level degree, i.e., Master's Degree or Ph.D., may substitute for two years of experience. Related technical experience may be considered in lieu of education. Degree must be from a university, college, or school which is accredited by an agency recognized by the US Secretary of Education, US Department of Education.
  • In-depth knowledge of adult learning theory, instructional theory, and design capabilities, as well as experience with instructional design software tools.
  • Proven facilitation and coaching skills, with the ability to deliver engaging and effective training programs.
  • Proficiency in eLearning design software, such as Articulate Rise & Storyline 360, Vyond, Canva, and Camtasia.
  • A creative and adaptable thinker, able to manage multiple projects and prioritize tasks effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate with executives, peers, and cross-functional teams.
  • Proficiency in Learning Management Systems (LMS), with specific experience utilizing Cornerstone.
  • Excellent writing, presentation, communication, influence, and interpersonal skills. A customer service-oriented mindset, with a commitment to quality, responsibility, high work standards, and initiative.
  • Detail-oriented, highly motivated, and able to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • A self-motivated learner who actively seeks and implements feedback to continuously grow and develop.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and training tools.

Preferred Skills and Education

  • Familiarity with SharePoint and Microsoft Teams, as well as knowledge of their capabilities.
  • Experience leading Finance Training initiatives in Aerospace and Defense.
  • Familiarity with assessment tools and surveys.
