Chemical Engineer/Fuels Compliance Engineer

Full time- onsite 3 days a week

POSITION SUMMARY

Our client is seeking a (Chemical Engineer) / Fuels Compliance Engineering in Sugar Land, Texas, who will be developing and supporting the compliance tools and data required for our client's national, state, and international renewable fuel programs with a particular focus on the Renewable Fuels Standard (RFS) and various Low Carbon Fuels Programs (LCFS). The incumbent will work closely with the Fuels Compliance Manager in monitoring and maintaining compliance with all regulatory guidelines.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
• B.S. or M.S. degree in Chemical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or Environmental Science, Geoscience, or other relevant technical degrees from an accredited college required.

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
• 5+ years of work experience in the environmental or renewable energy industry with strong analytical and statistical skills required, especially professional experience in GHG emissions reporting, life cycle assessment, CA, sustainability, biofuels, carbon footprint management or related field.
• Experience with EPA Renewable Fuels Standard (RFS), California's Low Carbon Fuel Standard (LCFS), Oregon's Clean Fuel Program, Washington's Clean Fuel Program, Canadian Clean Fuel Regulations.
• Expertise in environmental life cycle assessment (LCA), LCFS programs, and GREET models.
• Experience in communicating technical concepts to non-experts, including development of training about LCA, LCFS, GREET, and other technical topics.
• Familiarity with the GHGenius model, preferred.
• Comfortable working with stakeholders across multiple levels in the organization.
• Able to prioritize work assignments within deadline constraints required.
• Able to occasionally adjust schedule to meet business needs.

MAJOR ACCOUNTABILITIES
• Evaluate and maintain compliance requirements with current and future renewable regulatory requirements, primarily the Renewable Fuel Standard (RFS) and various Low Carbon Fuel Programs (LCFS).
• Prepare renewable fuel pathway applications and maintain required operations documentation of operations.
• Reports and maintains documentation of evolving LCFS programs and compliance requirements.
• Coordinate verification activities under California's Low Carbon Fuel Standard (LCFS), Oregon's Clean Fuel Program, Washington's Clean Fuel Program, Canadian Clean Fuel Regulations
• Prepares and submits required RFS and LCFS compliance reports.
• Performs renewable fuel business internal and external audits under general supervision.
• Provides support for third-party LCFS verification and annual RFS attestation requirements.
• Attend quarterly QAP audits for plants.
• Documents regulatory fuels compliance procedures and requirements.
• Analyzes suspected non-compliant situations, and interprets regulations, laws, and guidelines that impact compliance with national, state, and international renewable fuel programs.
• Special assignments or tasks assigned to the employee by their supervisor, as determined from time to time in their sole and complete discretion
