Summary:

The Senior Vice President of Franchise Operations (SVP) brings leadership and strategic planning to our franchise organization, particularly in the areas of franchise relations, campground design and quality, franchise finance and training. The SVP drives strategic initiatives across the KOA franchise organization in cooperation with the Chief Operating Officer and other members of the operations team. The SVP ensures cross-functional collaboration and synchronization with other departments at KOA, including OAK (Owned & Operated Assets of KOA). The Senior Vice President fosters the entrepreneurial spirit of its franchisees and possesses a passion for their individual success. The SVP often handles challenging discussions and situations with franchisees and manages franchise relationships with humility, candor and empathy while holding true to KOA's system objectives and goals.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • KOA Culture: Embody and effectively communicate KOA's mission, values and beliefs throughout the Franchise organization. Promote KOA's support services and programs through the four pillars of the KOA Difference: 1) Camper Growth, 2) Revenue Growth, 3) Operational Excellence, and 4) The KOA Family for the benefit of all current and prospective franchisees.
  • Cross-Functional Leadership: Collaborate with operations leadership to develop strategic initiatives for the Franchise System and KOA. Assist in the development and completion of company annual objectives.
  • Strategic Management: Responsible for the overall operational performance of all Franchise Departments including Franchise Relations, Campground Design, Training & Events, KOA's Procurement Program and Franchise Finance.
  • Team Development: Lead a team of direct reports to support the present and future vision and goals for the business unit. Keeps team focused on delivering the programs and services that enable KOA to be its franchisees' essential partner and the world leader in defining and advancing outdoor hospitality.
  • Budget Discipline: Oversee KOA Franchise operational budgets. Complete monthly estimates and participate in budget and forecast reviews with accounting and senior management. Responsible for leading the annual budget and planning process for the Franchise business unit.
  • Franchise Relations: Maintain positive relations with all franchisees with key attention on top royalty producers. Proactively works with franchisees on contract renewals, territory requests and other franchise relations concerns. Serves on the Franchise Review Committee (FRC) and the operations sub-committee of the Franchise Advisory Committee (FAC). Represent KOA with the KOA Owners Association.
  • Achieves fiscal targets surrounding the company's annual objectives. Targets based on priorities set with the Chief Operating Officer and other company leaders.
  • Manages performance expectations and develops the management team for delivery of key projects and business metrics.
  • Creates a collaborative and team-focused culture across the KOA Franchise organization. Productively manage direct reports and identify career development opportunities for improving skills.
  • Communicates clearly and effectively across internal channels and the KOA system.
  • Identifies and implements process improvements that improve the overall efficiency of the KOA Franchise organization.
  • Obtains a franchise renewal rate, defined by renewals offered and then returned, at 95% or greater.

Required Education and Experience:
  • Four-year college degree in Business Management, Communications or a related field.
  • 10+ years of related work experience.
  • Superior verbal and written communication skills and presentation abilities.
  • Strong leadership capabilities. Able to develop and coach employees.
  • Works well independently as well as in a team environment. Self-starter and motivated.
  • Exemplary organizational skills and proven ability to meet deadlines and operate within defined budgets.
  • Capable of handling multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Solid working knowledge of Word, Excel, PowerPoint, AI platforms and other related technologies.
  • Able to travel 25% of the time across North America.
  • Has a valid Driver's License.


Physical Demands and Working Conditions:
  • Work is performed in an office environment and requires the ability to operate standard office equipment and keyboard, including lifting and carrying a laptop and other small items up to 20 pounds.
  • Prolonged exposure to computer screens and artificial lighting.
  • Use of repetitive motion, standing, bending, sitting, lifting, and walking short distances.
  • May be expected to drive a vehicle to KOA locations, other locations as directed, and conferences which requires close and distance vision, sitting, seeing and reading signs, traffic signals, other vehicles, etc. Travel occurs in all weather conditions, including extreme heat and cold.
  • Frequent in person interaction with KOA employees in various settings, where noise level is typically low to moderate, including office spaces.
  • Will experience occasional interruptions and shifting priorities.
