Full Job Description
POSITION SUMMARY

Tri-State is seeking a practical, hands-on Front-End Application & Web Platform Engineer to support both our public web presence and a growing internal application ecosystem. In this role, you will focus on taking functional, internally designed applications from approximately 85-90% complete to polished, production-ready quality, as well as maintaining them post-release.

Additionally, you will take full ownership of rebuilding and modernizing the existing public websites as they migrate from legacy ASPX implementations to a modern, AWS-hosted static architecture. This is a role focused on execution, user experience refinement, and front-end reliability. You will collaborate directly with the Technical Lead, receiving existing source code, functional APIs, and established architecture, and independently driving software across the finish line.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Internal Applications & Intranet Platform
  • Application Completion & Refinement: Complete and refine partially finished application front ends, connecting existing UI components to REST APIs and ensuring seamless client/server data flow.
  • UI/UX & Workflow Enhancements: Improve forms, tables, filters, tabs, modals, navigation, client-side validation, and application workflows.
  • State & Error Handling: Implement appropriate loading, success, warning, error, and empty states; improve client-side validation and error handling.
  • Troubleshooting & Bug Fixing: Troubleshoot JavaScript and browser-side behavior, diagnose layout and spacing issues, fix responsiveness, and resolve cross-browser compatibility bugs reported by users.
  • Security & Integration: Work with authentication, sessions, JWT-based APIs, CORS, and role-based UI behavior.
  • Component Standardization: Refactor repeated interface patterns into reusable components and utilities to help establish consistent UI standards across internal applications.
  • Backend Alignment & Escalation: Make small supporting backend/API tweaks when appropriate while recognizing when changes impact underlying architecture or business logic, escalating those issues to the Technical Lead.
  • Testing & Deployment Maintenance: Thoroughly test changes before production deployment and provide ongoing maintenance and improvements post-release.

Public Website Platform Modernization
  • Platform Migration: Rebuild legacy ASPX public websites using modern HTML, CSS, and JavaScript within a static-site architecture hosted on AWS.
  • Branding & Component Design: Preserve existing branding, content, and functionality while building responsive, reusable page and content components.
  • Dynamic Integration: Integrate dynamic content delivered through APIs, S3, or other backend services to maintain site flexibility without relying on a traditional CMS for every update.
  • Performance & Optimization: Optimize site performance, Core Web Vitals, accessibility, browser compatibility, and maintain analytics/tracking integrations.
  • Technical SEO / AEO / GEO Implementation: Execute technical discovery and search recommendations supplied by Marketing and analytics teams, including semantic HTML, page metadata, canonical URLs, structured data/schema markup, XML sitemaps, robots.txt, content hierarchy, and image optimization.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Relevant Experience: Approximately 3-6 years of professional experience as a Front-End Engineer, Web Application Developer, UI Engineer, or Full-Stack Developer with a strong front-end focus (demonstrated capability may be prioritized over formal degrees or rigid years of experience).
  • Core Front-End Proficiency: Strong, practical mastery of HTML5, CSS, and modern JavaScript.
  • Application Troubleshooting: Proven ability to dive into existing source code, debug complex browser-side issues, and resolve front-end state/event handling bugs using browser developer tools.
  • Web & API Integration: Solid working knowledge of REST APIs, JSON, asynchronous requests, HTTP, CORS, authentication/authorization mechanisms (JWT), and client/server architecture.
  • Responsive Design & Version Control: Demonstrated skill in building responsive layouts, cross-browser compatibility, and source control using Git.
  • Self-Direction & Execution: Strong independent problem-solving skills with the ability to take a functional API and high-level workflow description and independently determine what needs to be fixed or completed.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • AWS Cloud Environment: Experience with AWS cloud services (S3, CloudFront, Lambda, DynamoDB) and serverless web application patterns.
  • Modern Tooling: Proficiency with TypeScript and modern front-end build tooling/workflows.
  • Technical SEO & Search Infrastructure: Familiarity with technical SEO standards, Schema.org structured data, Google Search Console, and web analytics tools.
  • Accessibility & Performance: Understanding of Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) and Core Web Vitals performance optimization.
  • DevOps Integration: Exposure to CI/CD pipelines or automated deployment workflows
