Job Description

Responsible for leading, managing, monitoring, and coordinating fraud risk management initiatives and strategies for card products, with a primary focus on PCS application fraud and account takeover fraud. Predicts and evaluates fraud risk, develops and implements policies and procedures to mitigate fraud, and assesses the profit and loss impact of changes to risk management strategies. Drives fraud trend detection, identity theft prevention, and fraud control enhancements while collaborating across teams to ensure strategic alignment and effective fraud prevention outcomes. Develops and maintains the analytical frameworks, reporting, and support systems used to manage fraud claims, monitor performance, and support risk-based decision making.

Additional Job Description:
  • Monitor and analyze identity theft fraud patterns to identify emerging fraud risks in both new applications and account takeover.
  • Develop and execute strategic initiatives to address ID Theft fraud including application, balance transfer, rush card requests and non-monetary changes (same day).
  • Identify and implement opportunities to optimize manual review rates and auto-decline rates, keeping alert volume flat (or a reduction).
  • Demonstrate and maintain advanced coding and data analysis skills (SAS, SQL)
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align and improve fraud mitigation efforts.
  • Lead monthly business reviews and follow-ups on loss performance and fraud-related events.
  • Ownership of identity theft fraud losses to ensure they remain below monthly and annual loss thresholds.
  • Monitor and communicate partner specific fraud trends to business partners at least monthly.
  • Provide weekly updates and strategic insights to leadership and stakeholders.
  • Engage with enterprise partners to strengthen identity theft fraud controls and strategies.
  • Measure the effectiveness of fraud strategies and optimize rules based on trend analysis and outcomes.
  • Applies Copilot AI to extract key themes from data and automate reporting.
  • Utilize storytelling techniques to highlight actionable trends that support proactive fraud strategy.
  • Manage rule bases to ensure rules are optimized, providing fraud detection while generating acceptable alert levels.


Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree, or equivalent work experience
- Typically more than eight years of applicable experience

Preferred Skills/Experience
- Comprehensive knowledge of all departmental data sources, and of fraud risk and operations management associated with the product lines
- Strong analytical skills relative to evaluating fraud prevention infrastructure and forecasting fraud loss trends
- Strong project management skills
- Effective verbal and written communication skills
- Proficient computer navigation skills using a variety of software packages including Microsoft Office applications and data analysis software

LOCATION EXPECTATIONS: This role requires working from a U.S. Bank Location three (3) or more days per week.

The salary range reflects figures based on the primary location, which is listed first. The actual range for the role may differ based on the location of the role. In addition to salary, U.S. Bank offers a comprehensive benefits package, including incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase 401(k) contribution and pension (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). Pay Range: $119,765.00 - $140,900.00
