We are seeking a Financial Planning & Analysis Analyst (FP&A Analyst) to lead the development, organization and communication of the annual budget for the US Gulf.  This role will be responsible for operating, capital and decommissioning project approvals and set up, as well as capital management and forecasting. The FP&A Analyst will work closely with asset managers and commercial teams to translate technical field data into financial forecasts that support a range of accounting and planning activities. The ideal candidate will bring 5-10 years of financial planning experience in the oil and gas industry, with a strong working knowledge of SAP and excellent communication and collaboration skills.

Primary Job Responsibilities

  • Prepare schedules, analysis and presentations in support of the annual budget.
  • Monitor and forecast capital and decommissioning & abandonment (D&A) spending and prepare required reporting and presentations.
  • Steward the project approval process, including setting up project approval forms (PAFs) and expense work orders in SAP, closely interfacing with the commercial team to ensure efficient routing and approval of the PAF workflows.
  • Work closely with asset and department managers to support project cost reporting, project closeout activities, as well as supplementing PAFs as needed.
  • Provide detailed analysis and commentary on results, particularly with respect to capital and D&A expenditures.
  • Assist in writing and editing memos and applications to obtain project funding approval. Maintain audit trail of all approvals.
  • Coordinate the divisional scorecard (KPI reporting) for the leadership team.
  • Respond to inquiries and special requests from both divisional and corporate management.
  • Coordinate and prepare executive level presentations and other ad hoc presentations materials.
  • Prepare the semi-annual schedule of commitments for external financial reporting.
  • Respond to and participate in ad hoc business and project requests

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor of Finance, Accounting or Business, MBA is optimal.
  • Minimum of 5-10 years’ experience of financial planning in the oil and gas industry.
  • Detailed use/understanding of SAP is required.
  • Demonstrated experience creating management and board-level presentations in PowerPoint with the ability to distil and translate business performance and key issues into meaningful, effective presentation materials.
  • Demonstrated experience drafting business communications and memos to support business initiatives, funding requests and/or in support of project assurance milestones
  • Proficient in use of Microsoft Office Suite including Excel and Outlook.
  • Able to structure and prioritize work to consistently meet deadlines and reporting requirements. 
  • Proactive and analytical with strong problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
