About the RoleThis is a founding engineering role at a consumer health and wellness company operating at the intersection of AI and ecommerce. You will own the entire engineering function, from a near-term membership platform launch through to a React Native consumer app, LLM-powered agents, and compliance tooling. It is a high-ownership position built for someone who ships fast and thrives in ambiguity.
What You'll Do- Build and launch a consumer membership web application on Shopify and Recharge, then own ongoing maintenance and improvements after launch.
- Monitor and optimize page speed, app performance, and third-party script and pixel behavior across the storefront.
- Keep tracking and consent tooling properly configured and compliant with privacy regulations such as CPRA.
- Own engineering architecture, stack choices, security, vendor and contractor decisions, and the databases behind the membership platform.
- Lead development of a consumer-facing React Native app from the ground up, prioritizing iOS.
- Build LLM-powered agents and internal tools that run unattended in production, with evals, monitoring, and human-in-the-loop safeguards where they matter.
- Leverage AI, automation, and low-code tools to improve speed and quality of execution, and build internal scripts and workflows that cut manual work.
- Partner directly with the CEO to tackle high-priority problems and move fluidly between product and infrastructure decisions.
What We're Looking For- 3 or more years as a full-stack engineer with a strong track record of shipping consumer products to production.
- Proficiency in TypeScript and React, with shipped production applications to demonstrate it.
- Proficiency in Python or Node.js and a history of shipping fast, reliable code.
- Hands-on experience with Shopify and Recharge integrations.
- Demonstrated skill in web performance optimization, including page speed, bundle size, and third-party script management.
- Experience building and shipping consumer-facing React Native apps, ideally iOS-first.
- Experience implementing privacy compliance tooling covering consent management and data handling requirements.
- Comfort making architectural and security decisions with minimal guidance, including database and vendor selection.
- Familiarity with building or deploying LLM-powered agents or AI automation tools is a strong plus.
- Degree in engineering, computer science, mathematics, or equivalent demonstrated experience shipping software products.
