Full Job Description
Role Overview

Harvey's Finance Engineering team is the investment-side counterpart to our Legal Engineering team: former investment professionals who bring real deal experience to Harvey's prospects and customers. Forward Deployed Finance Engineers lead discovery, demos, pilots, trainings, onboarding, and custom builds alongside our AEs and CSMs. They translate real investment work into Harvey solutions, serving as the trust layer across the entire customer lifecycle, from the first pilot to the most complex, custom-built workflow.

Finance Engineers work on Harvey Deals, a new product built off of Harvey's acquisition of Benchmark. Harvey Deals is where investment teams run their deals - screening, underwriting, diligence, and committee materials - built in the firm's own templates and formats, with every figure traceable back to the document it came from. Harvey works with 150+ asset management firms and analyzes 178M+ documents each month; the Finance Engineering team is how that capability meets the way deal teams actually work.

Finance Engineers understand how investors think and work, and use that expertise to design, build, and refine solutions that hold up under live deal pressure. In doing so, they don't just drive adoption; they shape Harvey's product roadmap, ensuring every release is grounded in what investment teams actually need. It's a team built to make Harvey the platform investment teams can trust with their most important work.

This role is the first Finance Engineer dedicated to real estate. You will build the real estate playbook - demo library, workflow templates, use cases - while running live pilots, and lead the real estate practice as the team grows.

You may be asked to travel around 2-3+ times per month. Travel is always for a significant business need and typically is for 1-3 days at a time.

What you'll do

Forward Deployed Finance Engineers on the real estate team are former acquisitions and real estate credit professionals who left the deal side to help build the future of how property gets underwritten. Working closely with Account Executives, they engage with real estate private equity platforms, real estate debt funds, insurer and asset-manager real estate arms, and developer-investors throughout the pre-sales process and stay with them well past it - leading pilots on live opportunities, guiding investors through what's possible with AI, and sitting down with acquisitions teams to build screening, underwriting, and investment committee workflows in the firm's own templates and formats.

The work is the work they did on the desk: OM and broker package review; rent roll and T-12 normalization; lease and estoppel abstraction; ARGUS and acquisition model builds; third-party report review (appraisal, property condition, environmental); sale and rent comps; loan document and term sheet review; and investment committee materials. It continues post-close into asset management reporting, loan compliance, and valuation support, so value compounds after the first deal. Along the way, Finance Engineers bring acquisitions-team feedback back into the product, helping shape the future of Harvey.

What you have
  • 3+ years on an acquisitions, asset management, or real estate credit team at a real estate private equity platform, real estate debt fund, insurer or asset-manager real estate arm, or developer-investor, with demonstrated ownership of live deal work: screening, underwriting, diligence workstreams, modeling, and drafting committee materials. Brokerage, valuation, or investment banking experience before the principal side is welcome, but principal-side deal execution is required.
  • Strong command of the documents and data that drive a real estate investment decision - OM and broker package, rent roll and T-12, leases and estoppels, third-party reports, loan documents, ARGUS and Excel acquisition models - and an instinct for where the numbers and the paper disagree.
  • Advanced Excel and financial modeling, comfort with prompting and agentic AI workflows, and a builder's instinct for turning a repeated manual process into a repeatable automation. Python, SQL, or experience building internal tools is a plus.
  • Executive presence and relationship-building skills, with the ability to establish credibility from analysts and associates through to partners and investment committee members.
  • Outstanding communication and presentation skills - comfortable leading a live demo, facilitating a workshop, or holding your own in a technical conversation about an underwriting assumption.
  • Deep curiosity about AI's potential to transform investment work, paired with a practical, solutions-oriented mindset and bias toward action.
  • Track record partnering with senior stakeholders to drive results, with curiosity for testing approaches and optimizing for customer outcomes.
  • Customer-facing or commercial experience (LP or investor relations, capital formation, banking or brokerage coverage, business development) and/or hands-on experience using AI tools in an investment setting are pluses.

Compensation

$254,600 - $381,800 USD OTE 75/25
