Job Summary/Objective:The Telecommunications Foreman serves as the on-site leader for telecom construction crews, coordinating and supervising daily activities to ensure projects are completed safely and efficiently, on time, and within budget. This senior-level role demands advanced technical expertise, strong leadership skills, and the ability to navigate complex operational challenges.
Primary Responsibilities:- Supervise and coordinate the activities of tower technicians and other crew members engaged in construction, repair, and maintenance tasks.
- Act as the point of contact for on-site operations, maintaining open communication with internal and external project stakeholders.
- Oversee and actively participate in tower construction activities, including assembly, erection, antenna installation, grounding, testing, and system optimization.
- Ensure completion of site-specific closeout documentation and upload required files to customer platforms.
- Manage and maintain daily paperwork and administrative requirements for both the site and crew operations.
- Conduct and oversee testing activities, including sweep, Passive Intermodulation (PIM), and fiber testing, ensuring functionality and compliance with industry standards.
- Provide leadership and on-the-job training to crew members, fostering development and teamwork while promoting a safe working environment.
- Maintain equipment and vehicles, ensuring they remain in operational condition for project use.
- Operate specialized equipment and tools, including Capstan hoists, and rigging hardware, for advanced lifting and construction tasks.
- Model and ensure adherence to OSHA safety standards and EHS protocols, demonstrating a proactive commitment to workplace safety.
Minimum Education and Experience:- High school diploma or GED.
- Valid Drivers License and have knowledge of and ability to meet and pass all DOT requirements
- 8+ years of telecommunications construction experience.
- Comprehensive knowledge and hands-on experience with major carrier sites, including upgrades, MODS, NSB, Electrical, Civil, DAS, and Small Cells.
- Advanced understanding of construction drawings, RFDS, and technical documentation.
Preferred and Additional Eligibility Qualifications:- NWSA TTT2 certification required.
- OSHA30 certification required
- First Aid AED/CPR certification required
- Ability to obtain all required certifications such as, but not limited to:
- RF awareness, competent climber, competent rescuer, ANSI 10.48 competent rigging, fall protection awareness, crane spotter/signal person, capstan hoist operator, etc.
Skills Required:- Expert technical skills in tower construction, system testing, and troubleshooting.
- Strong leadership and organizational skills to manage crew workflow effectively.
- High level of proficiency with tools and equipment used in telecom projects.
- Clear communication skills, both verbal and electronic, to coordinate tasks and relay information effectively.
- Ability to develop rigging plans and ensure compliance with project specifications.
Direct/Indirect Supervisory Responsibility: - While not the direct manager of technicians, the Foreman is responsible for guiding and leading the crew, maintaining safety compliance, and ensuring adherence to project specifications.
- Partners with the Operations Manager to set goals and establish project deadlines in alignment with company and client objectives.
- Organizes and oversees crew workflows, ensuring all team members understand their duties and delegated tasks.
Work Environment/Physical Demands/Travel Required:- Ability to work in varying weather conditions except for unsafe or extreme conditions.
- Desire and physical ability to climb structures over 300 feet while carrying loads exceeding 50 pounds.
- Travel is required 50% of the time.
