Foreman IV - Plumbing

Position Overview

As a Foreman IV - Plumbing, you'll serve as a senior field leader and master-level supervisor in commercial plumbing projects. You will lead and direct larger crews or multiple crews, oversee complex installations, repairs, and retrofits of plumbing systems (water supply, drainage, waste, gas, hydronic, fixtures, and medgas), and partner closely with Superintendents and Project Managers to ensure safe, high-quality, on-time, and profitable project delivery. This advanced foreman role carries significant responsibility for crew leadership, project execution, mentoring, and operational excellence in a people-first environment.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Lead and supervise larger plumbing crews or multiple crews on complex commercial projects, including assembly, installation, repair, and maintenance of plumbing systems per specifications, codes, and standards.
  • Provide advanced daily guidance, training, and technical direction to the crew to ensure superior workmanship and professional development.
  • Develop proactive solutions with the Superintendent to identify and resolve issues before they impact schedule, budget, or quality.
  • Review projects with the Superintendent and/or Project Manager after equipment and subcontractors are procured; conduct detailed site surveys and provide written reports and recommendations.
  • Perform accurate takeoffs and material lists; assist in developing project schedules and 8-week look-aheads.
  • Plan, coordinate, and supervise on-site functions including crew scheduling, material control, tool/equipment rentals, and daily progress tracking.
  • Ensure full compliance with safety requirements, company policies, quality standards, and contractual obligations; conduct daily safety briefings and enforce PPE usage.
  • Document incidents immediately, notify leadership, recommend corrective actions, and implement improvements.
  • Prepare and submit timely weekly reports (safety/toolbox, production, preconstruction, project-specific).
  • Conduct thorough job-site inspections, participate in system startups and commissioning, and coordinate with engineers, subcontractors, owners, and vendors.
  • Mentor and develop lower-level foremen and plumbers; promote team efficiency, safety culture, and continuous improvement.
  • Maintain clear, professional communication with superintendents, project teams, clients, and stakeholders to support overall project success.

Supervisory Responsibilities

Yes - Direct leadership and supervision of larger plumbing crews or multiple crews; responsible for task delegation, performance monitoring, safety compliance, mentoring, training, and contributing to evaluations and development of team members.

Requirements/Qualifications
  • Experience: 6+ years in commercial plumbing installation, repair, and maintenance, including 4+ years running work and leading crews of any size; journeyman-level mastery or ability to obtain relevant license.
  • Education: High school diploma or GED required; trade school, apprenticeship completion, or equivalent strongly preferred.
  • Certifications/Licenses: Valid journeyman or master plumber license (or ability to obtain); valid driver's license and clean driving record required; OSHA 30-hour certification encouraged.
  • Physical Demands: Ability to regularly lift and carry up to 50 lbs, climb ladders/scaffolding/stairs, work in confined spaces or at heights, bend/kneel/crouch, reach overhead, and use tools/equipment for extended periods; frequent standing, walking, manual dexterity, and physical stamina required.
  • Work Environment/Safety: Primarily field-based in commercial/industrial settings (indoor/outdoor, mechanical rooms, rooftops, varying weather); exposure to noise, dust, heights, water, sewage, chemicals, and confined-space risks; must strictly adhere to OSHA regulations, conduct hazard identification, and wear required PPE at all times-safety is our top priority and non-negotiable. This is a safety-sensitive position. Occasional regional travel or on-call rotations may be required.

Required Skills
  • Mastery of commercial plumbing systems and installation techniques (piping, fixtures, hydronic, medgas, backflow).
  • Advanced leadership and crew management skills, including the ability to lead large or multiple crews.
  • Strong blueprint reading, material takeoff, scheduling (including 8-week look-aheads), and project coordination abilities.
  • Excellent safety leadership, communication, mentoring, and problem-solving skills.
  • Self-motivated, punctual, professional demeanor with strong follow-up and multitasking capabilities.

Pay Range: $55 per hour
