Full Job Description
Purpose of Role

As a Footwear Product Engineer II, you will play a critical role in delivering innovative, high-performance footwear. You will lead engineering efforts from concept through commercialization, ensuring product integrity across fit, performance, durability, and manufacturability.

You will collaborate cross-functionally with Design, Development, Materials, Testing, and Global Manufacturing teams to bring athlete-driven products to life.

Your Impact

  • Review technical packages and revisions (sent by the factory)
  • Manage low to moderate complexity footwear projects from concept through production
  • Evaluate and recommend manufacturing processes to improve efficiency, scalability, and quality
  • Define athlete performance problems, establish measurable engineering success criteria, and validate that product solutions deliver a meaningful performance advantage
  • Proactively identify and resolve risks related to construction, materials, cost, fit, and durability
  • Analyze technical drawings, patterns, components, and lasts to ensure alignment with design intent and performance goals - Sign off 2D / Pattern
  • Translate athlete and consumer feedback into actionable engineering solutions
  • Lead fit, performance, and aesthetic alignment discussions through key development milestones
  • Confirm product readiness for commercialization (RFC) across all performance and quality standards- Sign RFC and MST PFC(Z)
  • Ensure product readiness for production. across all grading, manufacturing readiness, and quality standards- Sign PFC (ZZ)
  • Create, update and drive Footwear Product Best Practices
  • Partner with testing teams to investigate and resolve wear test and validation issues
  • Lead commercialization reviews to ensure consistency and quality in mass production
  • Analyze returns and quality data to drive continuous product improvement
  • Explore and implement new materials, constructions, and technologies
  • Travel to factories and development partners as needed
  • Mentor and support onboarding of new team members


Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field, or equivalent experience
  • Strong knowledge of footwear construction, manufacturing processes, materials, and construction methods (preferred)
  • 4+ years of experience in footwear engineering, product engineering, or a closely related industry (internships included)
  • Strong knowledge of footwear construction, manufacturing processes, materials, and construction methods (preferred)
  • Understanding of tooling, chemical processes, and pattern engineering
  • Experience with foam systems, injection molding, and performance components
  • Ability to interpret 2D drawings and translate into 3D product solutions
  • Hands-on experience with engineering tools (calipers, hardness gauges, Brannock device, etc.)
  • Strong analytical thinking, creative problem-solving skills and a mindset of curiosity and initiative
  • Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Adobe tools


Workplace Location

  • Location: This individual must reside within commuting distance from our Baltimore, MD office.
  • Work Schedule: This role follows a hybrid work schedule, requiring 4 days in-office per week.

Base Compensation

$90,000.00-$120,000.00 USD

Most new hires fall within this range and have the opportunity to earn more over time. Initial placement within the salary range, however, is based on an individual's relevant knowledge, skills and experience for the position.
