This role is part of the Lunar Permanence business unit, which develops Blue Origin's Blue Moon landers and related products. To further Blue Origin's mission of millions of people living and working in space for the benefit of Earth, we are building sustainable infrastructure for our transport of crew and cargo from Earth to the lunar surface.

This role is part of the Lunar Permanence business unit, which develops Blue Origin's Blue Moon lander product lines. We are building sustainable infrastructure to transport crew and cargo from Earth to the lunar surface in support of that mission.

As part of a team of engineers, technicians, and specialists, you will design next-generation valves for the Lunar program. You will own components through the full lifecycle - from requirements definition and conceptual design through detailed design, development, assembly, verification, and operation. This includes performing first-order analyses to verify designs, modeling valves, propulsion elements, sensors, piping, and other hardware in CAD, and sizing components and selecting materials to analyze flow and structural integrity under pressure, vibration, thermal, and mechanical loads. You will also work with suppliers and internal teams to procure, fabricate, and install flight hardware.

Qualifications:
  • B.S. degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, or related field
  • 6+ years of experience in valve and or mechanical+fluids component design
  • Knowledge of propulsion and fluid system components (i.e. valves, regulators and pumps for cryogenics, propellants, and other fluids)
  • Experience designing parts in CREO
  • Ability to apply GD&T to create manufacturable, high performing component drawings
  • Experience using design analysis tools such as ANSYS and Thermal Desktop to evaluate the performance of your designs
  • Ability to define and support testing of your design, conduct data analysis and iterate your design
  • Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.


Desired:
  • Advanced Engineering degree
  • Experience with static and non-linear FEA analysis (ANSYS)
  • Experience with CFD
  • Knowledge of ASME Y14.5 geometric dimensioning and tolerance


Base Pay Range for:
CA applicants is $121,023.00 - $169,432.20WA applicants is $121,023.00 - $169,432.20
