This role supports the development and operations of New Glenn, a single-configuration, heavy-lift orbital launch vehicle capable of routinely carrying people and payloads to low-Earth orbit, geostationary transfer orbit, cislunar, and beyond. Its first stage is fully reusable, and the vehicle was designed from the beginning to be human-capable.
We are looking for a proven leader with experience in flight vehicle fluid systems to coordinate design and support production of reaction control systems for a launch vehicle upper stage. You will bring technical depth to a high-rate production environment, contributing to system integration, test program management and mission support, and tackling complex challenges involving high-pressure, cryogenic, and highly stressed hardware.
We are looking for someone who thrives at the intersection of design, production, and problem-solving to apply their technical and business process expertise, leadership skills, and dedication to quality to positively impact commercial spaceflight. Passion for our mission and vision is required!
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:- Implement design, procurement, and production of reaction control fluid subsystems and associated components
- Coordinate with cross-functional stakeholders to ensure your systems work together and meet requirements, resolving issues with calculated risk
- Drive design for manufacturability. Implement upgrades for flight hardware identified through root cause analysis, manufacturing, testing, flight, and cost reduction opportunities.
- Collaborate with manufacturing engineers and technicians to develop work instructions and disposition hardware nonconformances
- Build and manage project plans including cost, schedule and risk management to ensure timely delivery
- Oversee component and system level testing, verification, and data analysis as part of qualification and hardware acceptance
Minimum Qualifications:- Minimum of a B.S. degree in mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, or related field
- Proven experience with spacecraft or launch vehicle fluid system component design, analysis, or test
- Solid understanding of propulsion and fluid components such as valves, nozzles, and fittings
- Knowledge of fabrication, integration processes and quality control relative to tubes/piping and machined components
- Design experience using 3D CAD (Creo preferred), 2D and 3D drawings per ASME Y14.5 GD&T along with detailed analysis reports using Finite Element Analysis (FEA)
- Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusion
- Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.
Preferred Qualifications:- Advanced degree in an engineering field
- Working knowledge of hypergolic propulsion, hydrogen and oxygen systems
- Experience with computational fluid dynamics or thermal analysis software packages
