Job Summary

We're looking for a seasoned FLEX Director, Release Train Engineer to help manage the Agile Release Train (ART) for Marriott Hotel Websites (HWS) and other web platforms. This role is ideal for someone with deep experience in Agile delivery and program execution who thrives on cross-functional collaboration, team coaching, and continuous improvement.

As a key leader in our delivery organization, you'll guide the planning and execution of major initiatives, foster alignment between Product, Architecture, and DevOps, and ensure we deliver high-quality, scalable digital experiences. You'll support coordination across teams, promote agile best practices, and help drive efficiency, communication, and visibility for stakeholders.

Education & Experience

Required
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
  • 8+ years of experience in digital or technical delivery roles
  • 5+ years coordinating Agile release cycles and aligning feature delivery to product roadmaps
  • 3+ years of experience as a Release Train Engineer or in a similar leadership role
  • Strong background working with DevOps, continuous integration/continuous delivery (CI/CD), and automation strategies
  • Expertise in Jira, Confluence, MS Teams, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Experience facilitating communication between cross-functional teams including UX, Architecture, and Engineering
  • A proactive, problem-solving mindset with the ability to remove blockers and enable teams
  • Strong organizational and communication skills to ensure alignment across teams and stakeholders
  • A passion for continuous improvement and team coaching
  • Ability to translate business strategy into delivery priorities and execution plans


Preferred
  • Graduate degree in a technical or related discipline
  • SAFe Release Train Engineer or SAFe Program Consultant (SPC) certification
  • Experience developing technology strategies, roadmaps, or enterprise-scale release frameworks
  • Proven track record coaching teams in Lean-Agile transformation and scaling practices
  • Background supporting digital transformation or platform modernization efforts


Core Work Activities

Agile Release Train (ART) Management
  • Partner with the lead RTE to optimize the flow of value across the ART using Jira, Kanban, and SAFe Agile practices.
  • Facilitate and support Program Increment (PI) planning, team demos, retrospectives, and other ART ceremonies.
  • Develop and maintain key delivery artifacts such as Jira dashboards, Confluence documentation, and executive reports.
  • Define and drive consistent cadence and reporting across web teams to monitor quarterly commitments and PI objectives.
  • Coach Scrum teams, Product Owners, and partners on Lean-Agile principles, delivery alignment, and best practices.


Delivery Governance & Reporting
  • Monitor team velocity and burn-down/burn-up charts to identify delivery trends, risks, and improvement opportunities.
  • Support leadership in reviewing delivery commitments and holding teams accountable to timelines and quality.
  • Escalate and track resolution of delivery impediments.
  • Maintain Agile dashboards and tools to ensure transparency and informed decision-making.


Cross-Functional Communication & Onboarding
  • Maintain Web-wide communication channels, including the Agile Confluence hub and team email listserves.
  • Promote alignment and knowledge-sharing across teams through well-organized documentation and onboarding resources.
  • Drive consistency and usability across team spaces (e.g., Confluence) to increase collaboration and efficiency.


Project Support & Strategic Initiatives
  • Provide project management and coordination for high-priority, cross-product initiatives (e.g., Digital Triage Tool).
  • Partner with Product, Engineering, Architecture, and DevOps to ensure delivery supports broader business goals.
  • Contribute to change management, training, and adoption of delivery tools and frameworks.

  • Promote alignment and knowledge-sharing across teams through well-organized documentation and onboarding resources.
