Due to business needs, this role is required to be on-site in Santa Clara, CA
Key Responsibilities
Contribute across all phases of the product development lifecycle, including requirements definition, design, implementation, verification, and release
Analyze system‑level, hardware, electronics, and customer requirements and translate them into clear firmware specifications and interface definitions
Design, develop, and unit test embedded firmware modules in collaboration with firmware and software architects
Support verification activities by partnering with test engineers to develop test cases and automation using established test frameworks
Develop and maintain firmware documentation in accordance with QMS procedures and applicable regulatory standards
Debug complex firmware and system issues and perform structured root cause analysis
Address complex and high‑impact design challenges in collaboration with architects for new product development and existing product support
Collaborate with cross‑functional engineering teams, including mechanical, electrical, software, and test engineering disciplines
Coordinate with other functions, such as manufacturing, marketing, and customer support, as needed
Support design transfer to manufacturing and assist with field or service escalations when required
Monitor industry trends and evaluate opportunities to improve firmware quality, development efficiency, and tooling, including appropriate use of automation or AI‑enabled technologies
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical discipline
4+ years of experience in embedded or firmware development, including hands‑on design and implementation
Experience contributing to at least one full product development lifecycle (concept through release preferred)
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within cross‑functional teams
Required Technical Skills
Strong proficiency in C/C++ for RTOS‑based embedded systems
Experience with embedded communication interfaces such as SPI and I2C
Familiarity with object‑oriented design principles
Proficiency with Git or similar source control systems
Ability to read and interpret schematic diagrams and component data sheets for microprocessors, peripherals, and related hardware
Hands‑on experience using laboratory test equipment, including multimeters, oscilloscopes, debuggers, and protocol analyzers
Working proficiency in Python for tooling, scripting, automation, and test workflows
Experience developing firmware and documentation in regulated environments (e.g., FDA, IEC 62304, or comparable quality systems)
Preferred / Additional Skills
Exposure to analog electrical engineering concepts, including signal conditioning, ADC/DAC interfaces, and sensor or detector electronics
Experience with CAN‑based communication systems
Familiarity with firmware development in safety‑critical or compliance‑driven environments
