The PositionBargaining Unit: Teamsters- Local 856The Contra Costa County Fire Protection District is recruiting for an experienced telecommunications professional. This position reports to the Assistant Chief, Communications Division and will assist District employees with voice and data communications needs and to assist in planning and updating District telecommunications systems including radios, telephones, and alerting systems; to assess breakdowns and system problems and implement immediate solutions or schedule appropriate provider services; and to perform related work as requested.
Ranking among the larger California fire agencies, the Contra Costa County Fire Protection District is a well-equipped, full-service fire agency. The District is an "all-hazards" organization providing fire suppression, First Responder Advanced Life Support (ALS) emergency medical services as well as 911 emergency ambulance transport services, technical rescue, marine firefighting, water rescue, Type II Hazardous Materials Response team, heavy fire equipment program, fire prevention, and fire investigation services to nine cities and county unincorporated areas. The District serves a population of over 770,000 residents in 12 cities and many defined unincorporated communities across our over 550 square mile jurisdiction.

The eligible list established from this recruitment will remain in effect for twelve (12) months. Minimum Qualifications License Required: Possession of a valid California Motor Vehicle Operator's License. Out of state valid motor vehicle operator's license will be accepted during the application process.
Education: Possession of a high school diploma, G.E.D. equivalency or a high school proficiency certificate.
Experience:Three (3) years of full-time or its equivalent experience installing, servicing, maintaining, and repairing radio transceivers and voice and data hard-line transmissions systems. Experience in public safety communications and emergency dispatch systems desirable.
