Position Overview

The Financial PM 3 is responsible for managing the financial performance of complex engineering and construction projects. This position serves as a key business partner to project managers, engineering teams, and leadership by providing financial analysis, budgeting, forecasting, cost controls, and project performance reporting.

The successful candidate will monitor project budgets, evaluate financial trends, analyze cost variances, and provide actionable recommendations that support informed business decisions. This role requires strong financial acumen, project management experience, analytical capabilities, and excellent communication skills.

The Financial PM 3 will work closely with project teams to ensure projects remain on schedule, within budget, and aligned with business objectives throughout the project lifecycle.

Requirements

Key Responsibilities
Project Financial Management
  • Manage the financial performance of multiple engineering, procurement, and construction projects.
  • Monitor project budgets, expenditures, forecasts, and financial health.
  • Track project progress and evaluate financial impacts throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Support project managers in maintaining budget and schedule performance.
  • Develop and maintain project financial reporting and performance metrics.
  • Ensure project financial data is accurate, timely, and aligned with organizational requirements.
Cost Controls & Analysis
  • Conduct detailed cost analysis and forecasting activities.
  • Analyze project costs, trends, and spending patterns.
  • Identify cost risks and recommend corrective actions when necessary.
  • Investigate and explain budget variances and pricing discrepancies.
  • Monitor project scope, cost, and schedule performance.
  • Develop and maintain cost projections and cash flow forecasts.
  • Assist in establishing cost baselines and financial controls.
Budgeting & Forecasting
  • Develop resource forecasts and cash flow projections.
  • Analyze future funding requirements and resource needs.
  • Support annual budgeting and project funding activities.
  • Provide leadership with accurate financial forecasts and project performance updates.
  • Assist with long-range planning and investment decision support.
Invoice & Financial Documentation Management
  • Review and approve invoices under the Project Manager's authority.
  • Review expense reports and invoice documentation for accuracy and compliance.
  • Ensure project expenditures align with approved budgets and contractual obligations.
  • Support financial audits and documentation reviews as required.
Stakeholder Communication & Reporting
  • Partner with business units to build schedules and project financial plans.
  • Communicate project financial health to leadership and stakeholders.
  • Prepare executive-level financial reports, presentations, and status updates.
  • Provide recommendations to improve project financial performance.
  • Collaborate with project managers, engineering teams, accounting, procurement, and leadership.


Required Qualifications
Education
  • Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Economics, or a related field.
Experience
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in:
    • Engineering project financial management
    • Cost controls
    • Project accounting

    • Capital project support
  • Experience supporting engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) projects.
  • Demonstrated experience managing project budgets and financial forecasting.
