About this OpportunityStepping into the role of
Financial Controller at Scout Talent in
Vancouver, BC, on a
hybrid work arrangement, you'll be at the helm of our financial strategy, working closely with our finance team in Brisbane, Australia, and our North American General Manager.
Your responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Financial Strategy & Analysis: Collaborating with decision-makers to create and report operational key performance indicators, supporting the strategy and goal-setting process
- Strategic Business Development: Championing the planning and analysis of new business opportunities, leveraging historical financial data
- Cash & Credit Management: Monitoring cash flow, overseeing our online banking system, managing credit card procedures, and conducting monthly bank reconciliations
- Operational Oversight: Owning all finance tasks for our North American unit; processing payroll, month-end, accounts receivable and payable cycles, and ensuring internal controls for all accounting processes (all invoicing is done in Manila)
- Compliance & Insurance Management: Keeping the business compliant by calculating and processing all taxes and other returns; overseeing insurance policy annual renewals
Who Are We Looking For?The ideal candidate will bring a blend of experience, ambition, and intricate attention to detail.
Key attributes include:
- Robust accounting and payroll background, with a CPA or CA designation being a requirement
- At least 5 years of experience paired with a strong senior leadership background
- Mastery over Excel, with the ability to analyze, visualize, and interpret financial data
- Expertise in forecasting, reporting, analysis, data visualization, and using past financial trends for future business strategies
- Familiarity with Salesforce, Xero, Payworks, or related financial software
- Stellar interpersonal skills for effective collaborations with global teams and leaders
- Actively using AI within finance workflows (e.g. Claude with Excel or similar tools), with the ability to demonstrate how it is improving effectiveness and decision-making
- Experience working within a Group structure (e.g. multiple business units and/or multiple currencies), including an understanding of intercompany transactions and consolidated financial operations
