Your Role at a GlanceReporting to the Finance Director, the Financial Controller plays a key role in managing and monitoring the financial operations of the Kiena Mine. The role ensures the rigor of accounting processes, compliance and reliability of financial reporting, and internal control initiatives. The Financial Controller also oversees general accounting activities, payroll, accounts payable processing, while working closely with the Superintendent of FP&A and team on the budget and forecasts.
What Awaits You- Lead monthly, quarterly, and annual accounting operations, including closing entries and reconciliations.
- Ensure compliance with accounting standards and regulatory requirements specific to the public and mining sectors.
- Prepare financial reports for management, the board of directors, and government agencies.
- Coordinate with external and internal auditors during financial audits.
- Support operational teams in understanding financial results and accounting issues.
- Help support the accounting, payroll, and accounts payable teams.
- Provide technical support and mentorship to finance team members.
- Support the site's financial planning and analysis function as needed.
- Participate in the continuous improvement of financial processes and internal controls. Train and support teams on best practices.
- Ensure the integrity of financial data and contribute to improvements in SAP systems.
- Participate in special projects such as monitoring grants and tax credits, statistics, etc.
- Ensure compliance with legal and tax obligations and represent the mine before Revenu Québec and the Canada Revenue Agency.
- Participate in implementing and applying laws, regulations, standards, and procedures applicable at the Kiena Mine.
- Perform all other related duties associated with the role.
What Will Make You the Ideal Candidate- Bachelor's degree in Accounting
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in a similar position in a manufacturing environment or the mining industry
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel)
- Member of the Quebec Order of Chartered Professional Accountants (CPA)
- Bilingualism (asset)
