Description & Requirements

The Financial Analyst supports key business decisions through analysis, modeling, and reporting related to budgeting and forecasting, variance analysis, and other ongoing financial management. The analyst will provide financial information, analysis, and projections to stakeholders and work with them to recommend actions; synthesize, identify insights from, and provide concise commentary on key financial information; support long-range planning and ad-hoc business decisions; and produce monthly and quarterly financial reporting. The ideal candidate has strong analytical and communication skills, with an ability to both summarize information and communicate key messages. This role involves working closely with other members of the finance team as well as colleagues across our administration and research groups.

Responsibilities:
  • Work closely with colleagues from finance and other relevant stakeholders to provide budget management and financial support for the Institute's operations
  • Support development of annual budgets and periodic forecasts, as well as preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting
  • Assist in the development of cost models to support breakeven analysis and pricing
  • Provide ad-hoc financial analysis and modeling to support business decisions
  • Under limited supervision, prepare and present the results of financial analyses to diverse audiences, including scientific and administrative leaders, in order to support decision making and promote general understanding of finance throughout the Broad community
  • Assist in development, implementation, maintenance, and use of planning and reporting tools

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in finance or relevant area with at least 2+ years of related experience OR MBA or other advanced degree in Finance or Economics with 0+ years of related experience
  • Strong Excel and analytical skills
  • Ability to collaborate with others at all levels, including senior leadership
  • Ability to uncover and explain the root cause(s) and impacts of variances and data anomalies
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, including presentation skills, and use of PowerPoint
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage tasks in light of competing priorities
  • Experience working with financial and human resources systems (ERP) data and analysis tools

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience working in a non-profit environment
  • A continuous improvement mindset

The expected base pay range for this position as listed above is based on a 40 hour per week schedule. Broad provides pay ranges representing its reasonable and good faith estimate of what the organization reasonably expects to pay for a position at the time of posting.
