Full Job Description
Title:Financial Analyst I
Location: Independence, MO

Salary: $80,300 - $102,300

Schedule: 980 Schedule

Focus: The Financial Analyst I supports accurate product costing, financial reporting, and business decisions in a high-volume ammunition manufacturing environment. This role partners closely with production, finance, and operations to analyze production cost, identify cost trends, and provides insight to help drive business decisions. This position plays a key role in financial close processes, inventory control, variance analysis, while partnering closely with local operations and leadership teams.

Financial Analyst I - Essential Job Functions:
  • Participate in weekly performance review meetings with operations teams to review cost and operational results.
  • Attend production meetings and provide financial analysis to support operational and business decision-making.
  • Assist with ad hoc financial and operational analysis to meet management and production team needs.
  • Support month-end close activities, including preparing journal entries, performing variance analysis, account reconciliations, and financial reporting.
  • Contribute to cost reduction and continuous improvement initiatives while maintaining compliance with GAAP, FAR/DFARS, CAS, internal controls, and ERP/reporting processes.
  • Support monthly budgeting and forecasting processes through cost trend analysis and performance reporting.
  • Prepare and analyze weekly cost reports, identifying trends and providing insights to support business and operational decisions.

Financial Analyst I Minimum Requirements:
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree* in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Minimum 2 years' experience in accounting or finance; Experience within a fast-paced manufacturing, defense, or ammunition manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Strong understanding of GAAP; working knowledge of FAR, DFARS, and CAS strongly preferred.
  • Advanced Excel skills and experience with ERP systems supporting general ledger and cost reporting; Deltek Costpoint and Cognos experience are highly desirable.
  • Demonstrated analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills with the ability to manage competing priorities, communicate effectively, and collaborate across finance, production, and operations teams.
  • Must have valid U.S. Driver's License.


Location-Specific Requirements:
  • This position requires successful vetting as an Employee Possessor in accordance with U.S. Department of Justice and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.
  • This position requires access to ITAR controlled technical data, and as such, employment will be contingent upon the candidate's ability to access ITAR controlled technical data pursuant to an export license approved by the Directorate of Defense Trade Controls, if required.
  • This position requires successful vetting for unescorted access in accordance with U.S. Army and Department of Defense access policies. The US Government does not allow non-US citizens on-site at the Lake City Army Ammunition Plant. Therefore, to be considered in the hiring process, the candidate must be a US citizen.
