Job SummaryReporting to the Finance Director/Manager, the Financial Analyst supports Corporate Finance functions through enterprise-wide financial reporting, forecasting, planning, governance, and Ministry reporting activities. The role is responsible for coordinating and preparing consolidated Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH) financial reporting, monitoring financial performance, supporting financial governance initiatives, and assisting with external reporting requirements to the Ministry of Health and other stakeholders.
The Financial Analyst contributes expertise in financial analysis, reporting, data management, and process improvement to support organizational decision-making, accountability, and compliance with provincial reporting requirements.
As a Financial Analyst with Vancouver Coastal Health you will:- Support the preparation and coordination of consolidated periodic, quarterly, and year-end VCH financial reporting.
- Develop and maintain enterprise-wide financial reporting packages, dashboards, variance analyses, and supporting documentation.
- Perform financial analysis, forecasting, and trend assessments to support organizational financial performance monitoring and reporting.
- Collaborate with finance and operational teams to ensure the consistency, completeness, and accuracy of financial information.
- Assist in the preparation and submission of Ministry of Health reporting requirements, including forecast updates, funding reconciliations, performance reporting, and ad hoc information requests.
- Coordinate data collection, validation, consolidation, and analysis activities required for internal and external financial reporting.
- Support responses to information requests from the Ministry of Health, Health Authorities, auditors, and other external stakeholders.
- Contribute to the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of financial reporting processes, controls, templates, governance frameworks, and reporting standards.
- Support the annual budget process and in-year forecasting activities through the consolidation, validation, and analysis of submissions from across the organization.
- Review budget and forecast submissions for completeness, accuracy, consistency, and alignment with established corporate assumptions, methodologies, and guidelines.
- Assist in preparing consolidated financial plans, forecasting materials, and analytical reports for Executive Leadership, Board Committees, and other governance bodies.
- Develop and maintains financial models, reporting tools, databases, and automated reporting solutions to support organizational reporting requirements.
- Identifie opportunities to improve reporting efficiency, data quality, governance processes, and decision-support capabilities.
- Assist in the analysis of proposed initiatives and strategic investments through the preparation of financial analyses, business cases, impact assessments, and post-implementation performance reviews.
- Conduct financial, statistical, and workload analyses to support organizational planning, service redesign, business transformation initiatives, and operational decision-making.
- Create and maintains tools, templates, and processes for data collection, validation, tracking, and reporting.
- Respond to ad hoc requests for financial information and analysis through research, data extraction, interpretation, and the preparation of reports, presentations, and recommendations.
- Build and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including representatives from VCH, regional Health Authorities, the Ministry of Health, and other partner organizations.
- Provide financial information, analysis, and reporting support to facilitate informed decision-making, accountability, and organizational stewardship.
- Perform other related duties as required.

QualificationsEducation & Experience- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration or related field plus completion of a professional accounting designation (C.P.A, C.A., C.G.A. or C.M.A.).
- Minimum of five (5) year's recent, related financial analysis and financial planning experience in a large, complex, unionized environment or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
Knowledge & Abilities- Demonstrated financial planning, monitoring, analysis and reporting expertise.
- Comprehensive technical expertise, process management, analytical skills and business acumen.
- Advanced technical computer skills in spreadsheet, word processing, presentation and database applications.
- Superior analytical skills including the ability to comprehend complex issues and related data/information and present information in concise meaningful ways.
- Broad knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles, and financial analysis techniques.
- Broad knowledge of computerized financial systems and procedures.
- Demonstrated problem-solving abilities to provide lateral and strategic direction to clients.
