Full Job Description
Position Summary:

The Finance Business Partner is a critical resource for the Executive Leadership Team at Discovery Behavioral Health and is completely immersed in division operations alongside the assigned Division President. Discovery Behavioral Health works within three key themes: 1) Access to Care, 2) High Performance Organization, and 3) Quality of Care. The Division CFO will help drive the strategic plan following these criteria, through financial operations and process improvement initiatives necessary for the successful completion of the Division's financial and quality goals. Financial Operations responsibilities include a thorough understanding of the patient's experience, from acquisition to discharge, staffing requirements, and company-wide policies. Ownership of labor management, capital planning, front end operations support, managing KPIs, and value creation is required.

This position reports directly to the Director of Financial Planning and Analysis (FP&A) and be able to function in a matrix reporting structure with accountability to the Chief Executive Officer, Chief Operating Officer, Chief Financial Officer, Division Presidents, and Corporate Experts as appropriate.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Provide financial oversight of multiple behavioral health locations in the assigned division(s) through operational support, financial direction, and labor management.
  • Participates in the Monthly Operating Reviews with DBH Senior Management and provides explanations and insight for each division/facility assigned.
  • Able to interpret financial statements and perform standard financial statement analysis and statistical calculations to identify trends and manage KPIs.
  • Partners with Divisional Presidents to identify, build, and refine KPIs and dashboards
  • Works with Supply Chain to ensure facilities follow Group Purchasing contract requirements and proper purchasing approvals.
  • Able to build and maintain complex excel models to analyze and provide clarity/understanding of business results and related drivers, budgets, forecasts, and ad-hoc analytical requests.
  • Partners with the assigned Division President to help drive operations through analytics, project facilitation, and providing financial education to facility leaders.
  • Recommends actions by analyzing and interpreting data and making comparative analyses, including service line analysis.
  • Develops and uses decision support tools to proactively identify financial, operational, and business concerns and opportunities.
  • Partners with Financial Planning and Analysis to complete forecasting and budgeting requirements for the assigned division, ensuring the accuracy and validity of the product for publishing to the Executive Team, internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to assess relevant information from QoE statements and related material, including bridging financial results to the pro forma model.
  • Provide the Financial Planning and Analysis team operational insights for M&A, de novo, expansion, or other growth vector activity to include staffing and resourcing.
  • Reviews managed care contracting and other business development activities to create maximum value in net revenue.
  • Maintains relationships and visits, virtually and/or in-person, assigned facilities to review financial operations and provide Facility CEO and Division President with feedback and guidance.
  • Ability to work professionally with sensitive, proprietary data & information while maintaining confidentiality.
  • Maintains industry knowledge
  • Other duties as assigned.


Knowledge, Education, and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in healthcare management, accounting, finance, or related field required
  • CPA, MBA, or related graduate degree preferred
  • Previous multisite healthcare/behavioral healthcare experience strongly preferred
  • 7+ years of relevant progressive experience including proven ownership of financial/operational outcomes
  • Strong technical understanding of accounting principles and ability to interpret financial statements.
  • Demonstrated leader and team player with a high level of emotional intelligence
  • Must be able to assess situations, identify issues/problems and prioritize duties
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications required, especially Microsoft Excel
  • Experience with Net Suite and Oracle Essbase/NSPB preferred

Employment Status: Full-Time

Compensation: Pay Range: $120,000 - $165,000/annually
