Position OverviewAs a senior Coverage Banker within our Financial Institutions Group (FIG), you will serve as the primary strategic advisor and relationship manager for a targeted portfolio of premier global insurance clients. You will drive the strategic dialogue with C-suite executives and Treasury teams, originating high-value mandates and delivering our comprehensive suite of Corporate & Investment Banking (CIB) solutions. This role demands a proactive originator who can build enduring partnerships, solve complex capital and liquidity challenges, and aggressively grow our footprint in the insurance sector.
Key Responsibilities- Strategic Origination & Relationship Management: Lead the ongoing coverage and strategic dialogue for global insurance clients (P&C, Life, Reinsurance, and Brokers). Cultivate deep, long-lasting relationships with key decision-makers, acting as the critical link between the bank and the client.
- Revenue Growth & Wallet Share Expansion: Drive absolute revenue growth and maximize risk-adjusted Return on Equity (ROE). Proactively identify and originate cross-sell opportunities across the global platform, including Debt Capital Markets, Global Markets, Syndicated Finance, and Global Transaction Banking.
- First Line of Defense & Risk Structuring: Serve as the primary steward of the firm's capital and the first line of defense in risk management. Conduct rigorous initial credit analysis, structure credit facilities with robust covenants and downside protections, and partner closely with the Credit Risk department to effectively underwrite and mitigate exposure.
- Business Strategy & Account Planning: Formulate, own, and execute comprehensive account plans, sales strategies, and financial forecasts for your designated client portfolio.
- Cross-Functional Deal Execution: Partner seamlessly with product specialists, credit risk, underwriting, and local/global banking counterparts to structure and deliver bespoke, value-added financial solutions. Ensure optimal pricing, capital allocation, and successful execution of new business mandates.
- Pipeline Management & CRM: Build, manage, and accelerate a robust pipeline of prospective deals. Take ownership of the end-to-end sales cycle, ensuring client activity, profitability metrics, and deal statuses are rigorously tracked in the firm's CRM platforms.
- Sector Expertise & Thought Leadership: Serve as a subject matter expert on the global insurance industry. Monitor macroeconomic trends and regulatory shifts (e.g., Solvency II, NAIC standards) to provide proactive, actionable intelligence and tailored advisory to your clients.
Qualifications- Bachelor's Degree required; Master's preferred
- Minimum 10 years experience
- FINRA SIE, Series 79, Series 63 required (or willing to obtain in 3 months of hire)
With respect to this position in our New York Office, the expected base salary ranges from $220,000 to $240,000. It is not typical for offers to be made at or near the top of the range. Salary offers are based on a wide range of factors including relevant skills, training, experience, education, and, where applicable, certifications obtained. Market and organizational factors are also considered. In addition to salary and a generous employee benefits package, successful candidates are eligible to receive a discretionary bonus.
