ProteQ is seeking a Field Service Engineer / Training Specialist to support the Naval Special Warfare Expeditionary Support Facility in San Diego, CA.
ResponsibilitiesAs a valued team member, your role will encompass the following essential tasks:
- Deliver comprehensive instruction in basic and advanced operation and maintenance courses for MK 18 Mod 1 and Mod 3 Unmanned Underwater Vehicles (UUVs) across diverse configurations
- Perform meticulous basic, intermediate, and advanced (including depot-level) maintenance and troubleshooting on MK 18 Mod 1 UUVs in varying configurations as a skilled technician
- Operate MK 18 Mod 1 and Mod 3 UUVs, including conducting sea testing, research and development, and meticulously collecting and analyzing data to ensure optimal performance.
- Meticulously maintain records, including maintenance logs, mission logs, inventory, and configuration management of UUVs and auxiliary equipment
- Serve as a small boat coxswain for UUV missions, ensuring the safe launch and recovery of UUVs in all operational scenarios
- Operate as a reliable support operator, responding promptly to expeditionary and operational requests, and demonstrating flexibility in short-term (less than 3 months) travel to both CONUS and OCONUS locations.
- Undertake additional tasks as directed by the Project Lead to ensure the seamless execution of project objectives.
- Provide remote technical assistance and troubleshooting to deployed UUV operators needing assistance with maintenance or operational issues.
- Complete job qualifications using ProteQ-specific qualifications and maintain technical skills by continuing training.
Required Qualifications- Active Secret clearance or the ability to obtain a Secret clearance.
- At least one year of experience as an instructor or in a leadership position related to UUV operations.
- At least two years of experience operating and maintaining UUV systems.
- Experience writing technical documents including standard operating procedures, maintenance procedures, and test procedures.
- Current or previous qualification as a small boat coxswain.
- Experience with MS Office products including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Ability to safely lift and transport portable UUV systems with another team member.
- Ability to take initiative, work well with a team, and learn quickly.
- Able to perform basic small boat maintenance.
- At least two years of experience reviewing sidescan sonar products.
- At least one year of advanced sensor testing experience and report writing.
Desired Qualifications- Knowledge of basic electronic troubleshooting.
- U.S. Coast Guard small watercraft license.
- MK18 Mod 1 REMUS Operations and Maintenance Course
- MK18 Mod 2 REMUS Operations and Maintenance Course
- MK18 Mod 3 or REMUS 300 experience
- Civilian or military SCUBA qualifications
- Experience participating in UUV sensor testing, research and development.
