Job DescriptionWe are looking for a Tunnel Field Engineer to join our Stanley Park project in Vancouver.
The Tunnel Field Engineer is assigned to tunnel excavation activities and reports directly to the Tunnel Manager. The incumbent provides technical support to field operations, monitors construction progress, and assists in resolving technical challenges encountered during project execution.
The Tunnel Field Engineer is responsible for coordinating construction activities related to tunnelling operations and works closely with superintendents and subcontractors to ensure production targets, project schedules, quality standards, and health and safety requirements are achieved.
RESPONSIBILITIESConstruction Coordination- Provide technical coordination and supportfor tunnelling activities within the assigned work area.
- Collaborate with Superintendents,Forepersons, and subcontractors to ensure construction activities areexecuted safely, efficiently, and in accordance with the project schedule.
- Participate in construction planning andidentify potential site constraints and operational risks.
- Monitor daily work progress andproductivity.
- Prepare and maintain accurate site reports, production records,and technical documentation.
- Attend and contribute to daily and weekly coordinationmeetings.
Technical Support- Provide day-to-day technical support toconstruction crews.
- Ensure construction activities comply withapproved drawings, methods, specifications, and procedures.
- Monitor and track installed quantities andproduction metrics.
- Participate in inspections, testingactivities, and quality control processes.
- Identify technical risks that may impactcost, schedule, safety, or quality objectives.
- Assist in the preparation and evaluationof change orders, claims, and variation requests.
Engineering and Documentation- Prepare and manage Requests forInformation (RFIs).
- Assist the Project Manager in developingconstruction methods, work procedures, and technical documentation.
- Coordinate technical interfaces betweenengineering, construction teams, consultants, and clients.
- Investigate and help resolve engineeringand construction issues encountered in the field.
- Maintain project records and ensuredocumentation is up to date and properly filed.
Health, Safety and Environment- Promote a strong safety culture and ensureall work is performed in accordance with project Health and Safetyrequirements.
- Participate in Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs),Safe Work Plans, and pre-task planning activities.
- Verify that approved work methods andsafety procedures are implemented in the field.
- Report unsafe acts and conditions andparticipate in incident investigations when required.
Requirements- Bachelor's degree in civil engineering,Mining Engineering, Geological Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Minimum of three (3) years of experiencein tunnel construction projects.
- Experience with one or more tunnellingmethods including:
- Conventional tunnelling methods
- New Austrian Tunnelling Method (NATM)
- Tunnel Boring Machine (TBM)
- Microtunnelling
- Strong understanding of constructiondrawings, specifications, and contract documents.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
- Experience with Primavera P6, MicrosoftProject, AutoCAD, and/or Bluebeam is considered an asset.
- Strong organizational, planning, andproblem-solving skills.
- Ability to work effectively in afast-paced construction environment.
- Ability to work rotating day and nightshifts, as well as weekends when required.
- Excellent written and verbal communicationskills.

WORKING CONDITIONS - Work is performed in active tunneling andunderground construction environments.
- Exposure to confined spaces, undergroundconditions, dust, noise, and varying weather conditions.
- Day, night, and weekend shifts may berequired based on operational needs.
- Valid driver's license required.
- Geographic mobility and willingness torelocate for future project assignments are considered assets.

In accordance with applicable pay transparency legislation, EBC Inc. has included the expected salary range for this role, which is
$90,000 - $140,000.Compensation within the range is determined based on relevant experience, qualifications, localization, and internal equity.
