Description Job Summary:The Field Network Engineer installs, supports, and maintains enterprise network infrastructure, including LAN, WAN, WiFi, routers, switches, SD-WAN, cabling, and UPSes for both data and VoIP systems. This role provides onsite and remote support to IT teams, vendors, site administrators, and business customers. The position requires strong communication, technical judgment, service focus, and the ability to work independently while coordinating with Network Engineering, IT PMO, Technical Services, vendors, and management.

Position Requirements Duties may include the following but are not limited to:
Network Installation, Cabling, and Site Readiness - Coordinate network installations, site walkthroughs, and infrastructure readiness with IT PMO, Network Engineering, Technical Services, vendors, and site leadership.
- Assess power, UPS, cabling, network cabinets, IT closets, and related site requirements before deployment.
- Coordinate circuit installation, vendor cabling work, service-provider turn-ups, and approved infrastructure activities through completion.
- Rack, install, patch, test, and validate network equipment, including SD-WAN stacks, WiFi connectivity, and basic user access.
- Inspect and test network cabling using diagnostic tools and coordinate with vendors on repairs.
- Document and photograph installations, patching, devices, and coordinate retired equipment disposition.
Network Operations and Support - Provide Level 1 support for enterprise network infrastructure on data and VoIP networks.
- Respond to outages, critical incidents, and service-impacting issues involving network, WiFi, cellular, WAN, power, UPS, and site connectivity.
- Open, manage, escalate, and follow up on service-provider tickets through resolution.
- Replace failed hardware and assist Senior Network Engineers with maintenance, equipment refreshes, repairs, and firmware upgrades.
- Escalate complex issues while continuing onsite testing, user communication, and coordination until service is restored.
Project, Vendor, and Customer Communication - Manage assigned field projects and communicate status, risks, outages, impacts, and completion updates to Network Services, project leaders, management, site administrators, and internal teams.
- Coordinate vendor installations, maintenance, UPS service, battery replacement, cabling, and provider activities.
- Support business customers and IS colleagues with timely technical assistance and clear communication.
Documentation and Continuous Improvement - Maintain network documentation, implementation records, patching records, photographs, and status updates.
- Gather field observations and network statistics to support reporting, capacity planning, upgrade recommendations, and budget input.
- Maintain current technical knowledge and share best practices with IS colleagues and Network Team members.
Work Schedule and Support Coverage - Work during normal business hours and before or after hours as needed for maintenance, implementation, outage response, and compensated on-call support.
Requirements: - Bachelor's or Associate degree with demonstrated network experience totaling at least 6 years.
- Experience supporting enterprise LAN, WAN, WiFi, routers, switches, cabling, and related field operations.
- Strong communication, coordination, documentation, and troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to work independently at remote sites while coordinating with project teams, vendors, management, and senior engineers.
- Ability to travel extensively to sites throughout Long Island.
Preferred Qualifications: - Network infrastructure certifications such as A+, CCNA, CCNP, or equivalent.
- Experience with Cisco infrastructure, SD-WAN, enterprise Wi-Fi, VoIP networks, UPS/power troubleshooting, or network closet/cabinet standards.
- Additional years of demonstrated or advanced experience in similar healthcare or remote network locations.
Office location is in Stony Brook, with travel to sites throughout Long Island for mileage reimbursal.Salary: $100K-$125KShift Days
