Department: Field Communications Area

Overview:

Pembina Pipeline Corporation is currently recruiting for a Supervisor, Field Communications to join the Field Communications team in our Sherwood Park office. Reporting to the Manager, Field Communications within the Information Services Unit (ISU), this role will play a key part in supporting and advancing Pembina's telecommunications infrastructure.

The Information Services Unit at Pembina is responsible for continuously enhancing the security, reliability, and integrity of Pembina's technology and communications networks. Responsibilities may include but not limited to:

Reporting to the Manager, Field Communications, the Supervisor is accountable for integrating new pipeline facilities into existing SCADA systems, maintaining telecommunications infrastructure, and supporting pipeline and system initiatives at the project level. Key responsibilities include:
  • Lead, mentor, and support a team of telecommunications technologists.
  • Assess team competencies and provide ongoing coaching, training, and development opportunities.
  • Ensure all Field Communications activities are conducted in accordance with regulatory, corporate safety, and compliance requirements.
  • Oversee Field Communications projects and activities, ensuring appropriate review and approval processes are followed.
  • Develop, maintain, and continuously improve Field Communications procedures, job plans, work practices, and safety documentation.
  • Promote overall system reliability and performance through proactive maintenance and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Ensure highly reliable field communications systems that support SCADA and Leak Detection platforms, enabling the safe and efficient monitoring and control of Pembina-operated pipeline systems.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with strategic vendors and service providers to facilitate the effective delivery of telecommunications equipment, circuits, and services.
  • Participate in the tracking and management of operational, project, and service-related budgets and expenditures.
  • Partner with the Manager, Field Communications to evaluate and recommend new technologies and software solutions that provide operational, safety, or financial benefits to Pembina.
  • Collaborate closely with the Field Communications West and NOC teams, SCADA and Leak Detection teams, Control Centre staff, Engineering, Automation, and Field Operations personnel.
  • Champion and support an inclusive, diverse, and respectful workplace culture.


Qualifications:

  • Post-secondary education from a recognized technical institution (e.g., NAIT, SAIT, BCIT, or equivalent).
  • Progressive experience in telecommunications and related technologies, with increasing levels of responsibility.
  • Strong ability to read and interpret telecommunications, networking, tower, and facility engineering drawings.
  • Comprehensive understanding of telecommunications technologies, including microwave radio, networking, cellular, and satellite communications.
  • Experience supporting SCADA communications systems.
  • Demonstrated commitment to continuous learning and professional growth in both telecommunications and leadership.
  • Proven ability to motivate, engage, and align a team around shared goals and future objectives.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to effectively manage competing priorities in a dynamic environment.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with stakeholders at all organizational levels.
  • Willingness and flexibility to provide after-hours support, recognizing that Pembina's pipeline operations are monitored 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
  • Valid Alberta Class 5 Driver's License.


Position Requirement: The successful candidate must reside within 50 km of Sherwood Park, Alberta.
