Full Job Description
We are seeking a Field Applications Engineer (FAE) based in Orlando, Florida to help bridge our technology, our customers, and our internal teams. A key part of this role will be providing hands-on technical support at a local partner site, while also helping us understand how our technology performs in the field, what customers need, and where new applications and opportunities may exist.

This is a hands-on, customer-facing role for someone who enjoys solving technical problems, asking good questions, and figuring things out as they go. As our technology and market evolve, so will this role.

What You'll Do
  • Serve as a primary technical point of contact for a partner site in the Orlando area.
  • Support the setup, operation, testing, and evaluation of Avalon's holographic display systems.
  • Troubleshoot hardware, software, and system-level issues, collaborating with Engineering to resolve more complex challenges.
  • Deliver product demonstrations, technical presentations, and training to customers and users.
  • Work closely with customers to understand their workflows, challenges, and how they use Avalon's technology in real-world environments.
  • Identify and communicate insights from the field that can help Avalon better understand customer needs, potential applications, and opportunities for our technology.
  • Gather and communicate technical feedback, issues, and observations to Product and Engineering.
  • Support customer evaluations and help determine what works, what doesn't, and where our technology can provide meaningful value.
  • Support software and hardware updates, system configuration, and product improvements in the field.
  • Contribute to broader applications engineering projects and priorities as our customers, technology, and market evolve.
  • Document technical issues, resolutions, customer feedback, and key learnings from the field.
  • Travel as needed for site support, training, demonstrations, tradeshows, and internal collaboration

What You'll Need to Succeed
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical discipline.
  • 3+ years of experience in Field Applications Engineering, Applications Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a similar customer-facing technical role.
  • Strong hands-on technical skills working with integrated hardware and software systems.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, with the curiosity to dig into problems that may not have an obvious answer.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to make complex technical concepts understandable.
  • Confidence working directly with customers, asking thoughtful questions, and building trusted relationships.
  • Ability to recognize meaningful patterns and insights from customer interactions and communicate them clearly to internal teams.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating closely with remote Product and Engineering teams.
  • A proactive and adaptable approach to working in an environment where the technology, market, and priorities are still evolving.
  • Ability to work in person in Orlando, Floridaand travel as required.

Nice to Have
  • Background supporting complex hardware and software products in customer or field environments.
  • Familiarity with visualization systems, simulation, digital twins, display technology, or other advanced technical platforms.
  • Exposure to customer evaluations, demonstrations, proof-of-concepts, or operational testing.
  • Experience working with early-stage, deep-tech, or rapidly evolving products.
