Facility & Exhibits Supervisor who is excited to roll up their sleeves and help bring this one-of-a-kind experience to life.
In this role, you will be the go-to expert for the building, interactive exhibits and the systems that keep everything running smoothly. You will lead a team of Facilities and Exhibit Maintenance staff; oversee repairs and maintenance; and help install, operate and care for the Science Center's interactive exhibits and equipment. The position reports to the Science Center's Operations Director and will regularly work with the Science Museum's Director of Facilities in Richmond to help make sure the Science Center is safe, secure, sparkling clean and ready for discovery every day.
The position will be based in Northern Virginia and we're anticipating filling the role sometime this October. Training will take place in Richmond, with the candidate expected to spend 2-3 days a week in Richmond from October-January. Telework or other work arrangement will be made for the remaining days each week until the Science Center is fully constructed.

The salary range for this position is $77,000 to $87,000. Actual compensation will be determined based on factors such as the candidate's experience and market considerations at the time of offer.
Minimum QualificationsThe ideal candidate will possess demonstrated experience in facilities management, maintenance or a related field. Experience in applied arts, industrial design, or fabrication. Supervisory or foreman experience is required. Knowledge of building trades and grounds maintenance, along with proficiency in the techniques, tools, materials and equipment used in facilities and exhibit maintenance.
Extensive knowledge of facilities and grounds maintenance, including the ability to operate, troubleshoot and repair commonly used equipment and computer systems. Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings, use power and hand tools for light fabrication and perform minor repairs and maintenance. Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and schedule work to meet project deadlines. Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to objectively assess and prioritize competing demands. Candidates must be able to work effectively in a highly collaborative, fast-paced environment, both independently and as part of a team. Travel between locations is a required part of the position, and a valid driver's license is required.
