Position DescriptionSalary Information:The salary for this position is negotiated through a collective bargaining agreement. All new employees will be hired at the minimum salary in the range and will be eligible for merit increases until reaching the maximum salary in the range.
Definition:Incumbents perform project management functions over capital improvement projects and maintenance of existing facilities. As on-site representatives of the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department (LVMPD), incumbents manage the work of contractors involved in the design and engineering of construction projects; manage the work of building contractors; manage the planning, scheduling, and performance of maintenance contracts and activities for all LVMPD buildings, facilities, and equipment; and collaborate, work in conjunction with and lead Facilities Maintenance Coordinators, Building Services Technicians and custodial staff.
Minimum Qualifications/Position-Specific ConditionsTraining, Education and Experience- Five years of increasingly responsible experience in managing construction projects, including managing the work of contractors involved in construction design and engineering and contractors involved in facility construction and maintenance, which covers contract management and electrical, mechanical, and structural systems and repairs; and
- An Associate's degree from an accredited college or university in construction management, facilities management, drafting, architectural design, engineering or a related area, or equivalent; and
- Possession of a Class C Nevada Driver License.
- Be a citizen/naturalized citizen or permanent resident alien without conditions on status of the United States of America by the date of the first test instrument
- Be at least 18 years old by the date of the first test instrument
Best Candidates Will Have- Five or more years of supervisory experience in facility maintenance management to include electrical, mechanical/HVAC/plumbing, and multi-discipline building repairs.
- Post-high school education in the electrical trade, mechanical trade, general construction, and/or management.
- A Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited college or university in Construction Management, Facilities Management, Drafting, Architectural Design, Engineering or a related area, or equivalent.
- More than eight years of experience in managing construction projects and facility maintenance; managing the work of contractors involved in construction design and engineering and contractors involved in facility construction; facility maintenance which covers contract management of janitorial, landscaping, including electrical, mechanical, and structural systems maintenance and repairs.
- Current certification as a Certified Construction Manager issued by the American National Standards Institute; or comparable professional certifications in construction management issued by an accredited college or university.

Tattoos or branding anywhere on the body that promote racism/discrimination, indecency, extremist or supremacist philosophies, lawlessness, violence, or contain sexually explicit material are prohibited.
- Participate in the LVMPD Mental Wellness Program.
- Office and construction site environments, travel from site to site in urban or rural areas; exposure to computer screen, unforeseen inclement weather, power tools, noise, dust, smoke, fumes, confined spaces, and high voltage.
- Vision sufficient to read the computer screen, as well as fine prints in documents.
- Hearing sufficient to hear conversations and directions in person and over the telephone.
- Mobility sufficient to climb, bend, stoop, reach, and kneel.
- Dexterity and mobility sufficient to work in the office, use standard office equipment, drive a motor vehicle to visit various Department offices and work sites; operate assigned equipment and vehicles, climb ladders and stairs, if necessary.
- Strength sufficient to lift and carry moderately heavy items such as stacks of files and plans, with or without the aid of equipment.
- Endurance sufficient to sit or stand for prolonged periods tocomplete assigned tasks; stand and move around while working indoors, outdoors or within confined space; or to wear Personal Protective Equipment in special situations.

Exam Dates*Exam #1: Written Exam (Weighted 40%) - Thursday, October 15, 2026 Immediately preceding the Written Exam, candidates will prepare a 1-page handwritten writing sample with a provided topic. A dictionary and grammar reference may be brought to the Written Exam to be used in preparing the writing sample. Those continuing from the Written Exam to the Oral Board Exam will have their writing sample submitted to the Oral Board rating panel for evaluation as part of that process.
Exam #2: Oral Board (Weighted 60%) - Wednesday, October 28, 2026 *The LVMPD reserves the right to modify the selection processes and test instruments in accordance with accepted legal, ethical, and professional standards.
**Due to security reasons, personal belongings permitted in the testing facility will be limited. Items such as large backpacks, briefcases, duffle bags or similar items may not be allowed. Those items permitted will be left to the discretion of the LVMPD employees administering the examination and may be subject to a search.

LAS VEGAS METROPOLITAN POLICE DEPARTMENTCIVILIAN EMPLOYEE BENEFITS Benefits are effective July 1, 2023, are based
upon an 80 hour pay period in a paid status, and are subject to change.
COMPENSATION ASSIGNMENT DIFFERENTIAL: Specific assignments may qualify for assignment differential pay.
EDUCATION INCENTIVE: Civilian employees possessing an Associate, Bachelor, or Master Degree from an accredited college or university will receive a designated amount per pay period based on degree.
OVERTIME PAY / COMPENSATORY TIME: Employees who work overtime have the option of being paid at 1-1/2 times their hourly rate or receiving 1-1/2 hours of compensatory time. Compensatory time may not accumulate beyond 60 hours.
SHIFT DIFFERENTIAL: Employees will receive an additional 4% shift pay for working a swing shift or a graveyard shift. After completing initial probation, employees working a graveyard shift encompassing the hours of midnight to 5:00 a.m. will receive an additional 2% shift pay.
LANGUAGE PAY: Qualified employees may receive Language Pay each pay period.
UNIFORMS: The Department furnishes, maintains, and cleans all uniforms for those personnel required to wear uniforms, with the exception of footgear.
TAXES: State/City - Nevada has no state tax or city income tax.
Social Security - Employees enrolled in PERS pay no social security.
Medicare - Medicare is deducted at the rate of 1.45%.
WORKING HOURS: Employees work 80 hours bi-weekly. Depending upon the area of assignment, employees work an 8-hour, a 9-hour, a 10-hour, or a 12-hour shift per day.
LEAVE AND HOLIDAYS ANNUAL VACATION LEAVE: Employees begin accruing vacation leave immediately at the following rates:
- 1 - 14 years of service:4.62 hours per pay period (3 weeks per year)
- 15 - 19 years of service:6.15 hours per pay period (4 weeks per year)
- 20 + years of service:7.68 hours per pay period (5 weeks per year)
Vacation leave may be used after 6 months of continuous service.
On December 31st of each year, employees may carry over a portion of accrued leave, based upon their years of service.
Employees separating from the Department are eligible to cash out all accrued vacation if they have completed six months of continuous service.
BEREAVEMENT LEAVE: Employees may take bereavement leave for members of their immediate family. This leave can be deducted from any available accrued leave.
